Free SMS texting?

Im trying to find a way to text other cell phones for free using just the wifi instead of a cell signal. I can get it basically with aim for ppc but the problem is as soon as i lose signal then get wifi signal back i dont get the texts that were sent during the blackout period (offline im). Im wondering if theres a program/way to get all the texts i missed as soon as im in a new wifi hotspot

Maybe look for a program that will retrieve messages sent while you are online. What provider are you with, SMS is pretty cheap for T-Mo.

You could use the same exact plan as now. But use a program you put up a blank screen instead of power off the device with power button. The WiFi connection would stay on.

Lefthandedjesus, will you please go and add your carrier in your profile because it makes things easier when we go to answer your Qs. For instance, I was going to simply suggest just breaking down and paying the $10-20 for Txt Msg but IDK who your carrier is.

the carrier is Verizon but the phone isn't activated, so as of right now i only have wifi. I know that aim receives text messages i just need a way to receive them all the ones i missed while i was out of wifi range when i find a wifi connection

Dont AIM and Yahoo store them on the server side until you reconnect? I know Yahoo does but then again thats on my PC at work. Im not too sure about PPC.

that's why im confused, aim is supposed to store them but it seems like it doesn't store sms messages, it only stores texts sent by other people on aim

GOT IT !

i used outlook express and gmail

tutorial set up gmail with outlook express

how to text with email
- http://www.sms411.net/2006/07/how-to...-to-phone.html

this method does not let you receive texts immediately but it works like a charm, you can set outlook to refresh mail every (X) number of minutes. And for right now its working just fine for what i need it to do

Free texts :laughing3:
