pop3 e-mail
I tried searching, couldn't find the answer so here comes the question...
I setup my email from my own website which offers pop3 email. Seemed like it was working fine, (i can receive emails).. But when i send one from i get the delivery notification error message.. (an email back sayin the address is invalid even though i know for a fact its a working email. another thing is everytime the phone sends/receives every 30 minutes everything in my inbox gets deleted! its still on the server but it gets deleted from my phone... The settings for my email are... i don t have "incoming mail server requires ssl authentication " checked and i dont have the outgoin mail requires authentication checked either my webhost is fortunecity.com of that can be of any help.. thanks! |
Pardon me, It actually does delete emails from the server too!

A lot of times your smtp server is different than your pop server. The easiest thing to do is contact whoever hosts your domain and whoever you have your email set up through to get the correct settings. For my email, my incoming mail (pop) is mail. mywebsitename.com, but my smtp goes through a completely different company. This would be the first thing I would check.

Most pop3 servers require authentication on outbound mail. You may want to check that box and try sending again as long as you have the proper hostname and port entered. As to the deleting your inbox, I have no idea.

this may not directly answer your question but may circumvent your problem if you don't already have push email set up.
You can set up a personal exchange account at mail2web.com. it will handle another email account for you and let you change the address that recipients see and reply to. that feature bumps you from a free account to a $2 a month account. you can then take advantage of push mail and even download a .cab file that will set it up for you. their are good new instructions at the mail2web site and they are very helpful if you call them. or you can read this thread: http://ppcgeeks.com/updated-free-dir...2web+push.html I hope this was helpful. |
