How to Tighten up the 6700 Casing??
Im sure you guys know what im talking about...
my casing is a little loose on the "half and half". I can hold it with two hands on its side and open it up a little like a book.. now i know it didnt come like that from the factory and my only assumption is because of wear and use.. So is there any tightening screws hidden in this case i need to get to? Or is it a plastic latching somewhere being worn down to cause this, thus resulting in a non-fix? |
I'm wanting to know the same thing... mine is getting a little lose.

Unfortunately, the screws that need tightening are located under the keyboard section - 4 screws that tighten the slider mechanism. Mine is a little loose too and pisses me off sometimes when I take it out of the holster and it's slid out enough to be in landscape mode and doesn't want to go back.
About a year ago I cracked my screen and didn't have insurance so I bought the lcd unit from ppctechs. I ended up fing up the mini usb socket on reassembly so had to get a new one anyway. Taking apart this phone is relatively easy, but is delicate work. You start from the back, take battery cover off, take out a few screws, pop the plastic covers off, keep taking off screws til you're to the right screws. It's not so bad if you don't force anything AT ALL and take your time. There's a little sticker underneath the battery that voids warranty (and insurance I imagine) so the best bet is just to get a free replacement from the provider. It's hard to pry off the plastic pieces without showing they've been taken apart. Verizon did eventually take care of me on mine (rep didn't add insurance even though I requested it), but just get a replacement. It's not worth the hassle. Uhh, flash to factory ROM first! |
