ActiveSync won't work
I did some searches and I've tried to get my active sync to work so I can attempt to cook my first rom and I cant get it to sync. Any help would be appreciated. I downloaded active sync 4.1 and it won't read a connection. Also I'm using a rocketfish brand usb cable. Could that be the problem?

Re: ActiveSync won't work
You should either use Activesync 4.5 for XP:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...ivesync45.mspx or WMDC for Vista: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...ce-center.mspx |
Re: ActiveSync won't work
I downloaded the version from the link provided for XP and still nothing. I dont know what is going on. The usb cable is working because its charging my phone. I click connect and it does nothing.

Re: ActiveSync won't work
So you don't have the USB cable that came with the phone or the cradle? When you plug in the phone, it should make the dings and then walk you through setting up a partnership. And don't use a USB hub; use USB right from the PC/laptop.
Edit: Two other things. You must be running WM5 if you have never cooked. Did you ever load the AS FIX (See the AS RNDIS Toggle update)? To load it you have to have the updated WM5 ROM from your provider. Are you updated? http://www.phonenews.com/phones/inde...0_/_HTC_Apache |
Re: ActiveSync won't work
Go to Settings>Connections>USB to PC and uncheck "Enable Advanced network functionality" Oh and just because the cable will charge the device doesn't mean syncing works perfectly. The pins are different. And I know of a few people who have had ban USB pin connections. Should that be the case, you need to have the hardware replaced.

Re: ActiveSync won't work
Or you can also go to your Task Manager and kill
MDM.exe rapimgr.exe wcescomm.exe Then reboot and if AS doesnt start with your PC, then go ahead and start it and connect the device to see what you get. Also, XPs firewall as well as 3rd party firewalls will block it. To test that and not mess with your firewall configurations, reboot XP and boot into Safe Mode with Networking, once it is loaded try to connect to AS and see what you get. If you can (but couldnt earlier) then it is a firewall issue. If you still cannot then it is not a f/w issue. |

Re: ActiveSync won't work
No, you won't see that option in WM5; only in WM6/6.1. But that disables RNDIS and you can get that feature with the AS fix for WM5. What's under Start>Settings>Connections>Connections? Sorry, its been a while since I've seen WM5...
Do you hear the "da DA" connection sound when you connect the phone? If you don't, then the drivers aren't being loaded, and you prolly have a hardware problem with cable/miniUSB. |
Re: ActiveSync won't work
