Ringtones for your Text Messages
Does anybody know how to make or use a ringtone for your Text Message for the ppc 6700?

Settings; Sounds & Notifications; Messaging: New text message.
Select "Play Sound" and select a sound. Looks like you have to use a .wav file from the \windows directory. If you want to use a wma/mp3 etc, get phoneAlarm and select whatever sound you want for SMS messages. Attached are a few of my favorite notifications to get you started. http://upload9.postimage.org/57173/pc_capture4.jpg |
Gotta love the Monty Python notifications.

You should see the looks I get when Holy Grail quotes start coming out of my phone. I've got them as ringtones & notifications.
Here are a few more, plus one from another favorite movie. [not suggested that the non-MP clip be used in airports or sensitive areas] |
Ringo Mobile http://store.pdaphonehome.com/product.asp?id=4709
this program works pretty good too. lets you set text message sound for each individual person |
A easier way is to just copy whatever ringtone you want whether it is a mp3 or wav file into the windows directory. The phone will automatically pick it up.

the good thing with ringo is that it will allow your to select a ringtone per user. so each one will have their own distinct sound

i just downloaded ringo but now when someone texts me it doesnt do anything
|
ringo has some issues if you dont configure it right. too much hassle for me :)

what i do is listen to one of my mp3 and i record whatever part i want with the recording tool in the notes program.. after that i move the file to the windows dir and when i try to change the notification the file i just recorded is available to be used as a notification..
