Extended Rom problem
Hey guys,
I was customizing the extended rom on a 6700 I picked up for my sister, and I ran into a problem I've never had on my phone. Hopefully someone has had it and can tell me how they handled it.. I deleted the files in the rom (all of them), and replaced them with the files from my custom rom (some of which were a simple replacement of the stock programs, others are custom cabs for my registry tweaks).. When I reboot the phone, it loads the extrom just fine, everything installs, life is good. However, if I hard reboot again, the only files which remain are autorun and config. It deletes all the program files. I'm totally confused about why it would do this.. I'm assuming there's a registry entry or something which is looking for the original files and deleting anything that's not original, which would be my entire custom rom. However, the config file is still my edited one, and the phone looks for the programs I installed. Any help? Just as an FYI, this is a verizon xv6700 which has been reprogrammed to cricket, and i'm running Kirvins Clean and simple 3.5. |
Bump.. anyone? anyone? bueller?
Someone's gotta have SOME advice! |
all the cabs and other things u put in the extrom must be marked with the read only attribute. ;)

I'm 99% sure they are, but I'll check again
Would that actually cause them to be deleted if they're not though? |
I just checked.. There was one file that wasn't marked read only...
I corrected that.. but the problem is still there... on the 2nd hard reset, the programs are deleted.. The phone tries to install them, but the only things left in the extrom folder are config and autorun. |
that's the only time I have ever seen that happen was when they aren't marked as read only. if they are indeed marked and its still happening im not sure what's going on. did u try reading the tutorial on extroms I wrote? and if worst come to worse I could make a .exe of ur extrom 4 u to install and try.
