Using SMS's for IM?

So I have Verizon, and unlimited txts, but no data plan... is there any way to use MSN/AIM, but instead of using the data to send/recieve, use txt messages?

Sweet, got AIM now :)

Anything like this for MSN (or yahoo or ICQ?)

For yahoo just register your device on the website. It will send a text message to your phone to confirm, and once you register the number you get instructions on how to use it....

When i don't want to sign onto my aim account but want to send someone a message. i have have the number 265010 saved in my contacts under AIM and, in my Threaded SMS app, in my quick messages list i keep some frequently used aim names with a colon after it. (eg. "Mybuddy:")

This way if i know someone is on, or they forward to there mobile, i just hit messaging, new, type aim, then select the name from my quick messages list. then i type my message and send. presto, i have used SMS to send a quick message to my friend. They can reply and then you can chat from there. when they reply it will come from a different short code. you can reply to the new short code but be sure whenever you start a new conversation you use 265010.

I don't use this often now that i use IM+ and a data plan but it comes in handy when i am on a call and need to message someone using SMS.

I am sure this info is posted somewhere here with all of the great info on the site but i hope this helps someone anyway. Happy messaging. :D
