Does the ppc 6700 have GPS?
I have been working on figuring this out and have got no where. I have a UT Starcom PPC 6700 and wanted to know if there was a way to make the alltel navigation that I got work, or find out if it even has GPS. Any help would be great thanks.

Probably should have posted this over in the Apache forum for greater viewing by the Apache gurus.

Re: Does the ppc 6700 have GPS?
Am I missing something? This is the Apache forums. However the UTStar, PPC6700 (Sprint), XV6700 (VZW) and even the Alltel 6700 are all the same. The 6700 does has a GPS but it was never able to work without an external GPS receiver such has the Holux 240. If you want GPS on an device internally then you will need the 6800 version. So just to clarify, the 6700 does but you need an external receiver to make it work.

Well there is a registry hack to make it viewable (settings) in the control panel/settings area, but no, software will not be able to access it by itself as weedahoe mentioned. I think it was only meant as part of the 911 and other certain services by your carrier.

Re: Does the ppc 6700 have GPS?
I think Navizon figured it out, if you want to try to reverse engineer their software...

Re: Does the ppc 6700 have GPS?
so if you install Navizon on the 6700, the GPS works without a bluetooth puck?

Re: Does the ppc 6700 have GPS?
Yeah, but remember, it's AGPS (based on cell towers), not GPS (based on satilites)
