Opera Mini 4 beta

Available at mini.opera.com/beta

First impressions are fantastic. I love just using my finger in the middle of the screen to scroll up and down pages and it renders them extremely quickly.

No stability problems so far in the Intent Manager and the whole browser is extremely fast.

I also think its funny that testmy.net reports that I'm browsing at 4Mbps when I try to run speed tests... it used to be 2Mbps in the old version of Opera but its even funnier to me because it saves that result as a spcsdns.net result. LOL.

In any case, I think the speed has been much improved and there are a lot of new features. Its worth checking out. I think I may even switch to using it as my primary browser... its just plain kickass compared to Opera 8.65.

excellent

I just installed mini 4 beta yesterday.
It is better than mini 3.
It displays the whole web site with very nice zoom feature.

Is this being installed on a Apache device?

Yep. Works great with the Intent Midlet Manager (I got it from Kirvin's Sprint AKU 3.5 Clean and Simple ROM)

is there an easier way to open the opera mini browser than...opening midlet, then clicking on opera. love to be able to make a shortcut somewhere. anyone try picsel browser? this better?

version 1 (build 2319) that the latest?

friguy3 06-24-2007 09:58 PM

very cool...like it better than opera mini

Despiser 06-26-2007 02:33 PM

I didnt like it at all. Perhaps on a smartphone it would be "better" but on my 6700 it has giant "small" fonts and little navigation ability make it horrible. Both Opera mobile 8.65 and Netfront 3.3 perform much better on this platform than Opera Mini.

EtherealRemnant 06-27-2007 12:00 AM

You're probably doing something wrong then, Despiser, since the "small" fonts on my 6700 using the Intent manager are indeed "small" and are very easy to read... the whole platform is faster than using Opera or NetFront and it downloads pages much faster too.
