Resco Audio Recorder beta

Normally I wouldnt get too excited about a audio recorder but this one has something special.

For the first time in my PPC/Phone history I can record both sides of a phone conversation in decent quality mp3 onto a storage card. FOr years I screamed why this wouldnt be a basic part of EVERY phone/ppc and have heard so many excuses and reasons that I'd all but given up.

Finally my dreams have come true LOL! WooHoo!

The latest beta of version 4 beta3 here

I seemed to have better luck installing the latest release version demo then installing the beta over the top of that one. Seems I get a codec missing error that must come with the original and not the beta.

Don't get too excited.

From Resco:

"(Both sides recording is hardware dependent. If your recording contains voice of one side only, it is not due to the program's failure.)"

As far as I know, almost all PPC's (Except the Treo, I think) cannot record both sides of a conversation due to the fact that there is no signal path in the hardware to record the incoming audio. No amount of programming will change this.

Still excited. Ive been using it for days successfully. This is an Apache forum, no?

I could understand your post had I not tried the software or if this were a "general" PPC forum instead of a forum targeting a specific device as is the case.

This glass isnt half empty, it's half full...

So you're saying that you can record both sides of conversation?

I just tried this and, yes, I can hear the other side, but I think it's only because the microphone is sensitive enough to pick up sound from the speaker, not that there is a signal path from the incoming phone audio. This will probably work OK in a quiet environment, but in a noisy place, forget it.

use the speakerphone when you record, both sides are loud and clear

I hadnt considered the speakerphone. I use Phone Alarms speakerphone option. Ill try without but Ill guess it will not record. Darn.

3/4's of the way. Small steps :)
