noob needs help

Hello i am a noob when it comes to flashing my PPC-6700 sprint phone. its the first time for me. I am trying to flash the latest BIG j flash and have unlocked the extended rom and cleared the sprint stuff off of it. put phone in bootloader mode and ran the upgrade utility. the upgrade utility is where i get the trouble. it will come up with a screen. "checking the information on your device... please wait..." this screen does not go away and eventually i will see a screen showing the upgrade to and from versions... but they are all blank. clicking next says sucessful and to reset the device with soft keys. but it has no effect. Also the program will do the same thing with no cable even hooked to the phone.
Please point me in the right direction

i should also add the phone boots up as normal if i choose Y on the next screen, i go throught the WM5 setup and i have a basic plain install of wm5 no addons or anything new

1. could be bad software, try a different self-installing ROM from here.

2. what OS do you use? there are problems with windows Vista, to where it will run the software and get as far as flashing your device, but then skip the installation of the new ROM and leave you with the same ROM you had before.

I would suggest you flash your device on a WinXP based PC.

This is a very common problem with WinVista and the embedded Mobile Device Center not sync'ing to your device or allowing your device and PC to be in constant communication. There are updated Vista drivers, and there is also a Vista RRU Upgrade utility available too.

I have Vista, but I still flash my device on my WinXP box, since it is more reliable when updating your ROM.

Vista Flash

I have been flashing ROMs on Vista since January without a single problem. All I did was follow the directions from this post over at Modaco.

As long as you follow these directions you will never have a problem.
