freeze when opening Start menu

one last ? for the nite...
All of a sudden I am frequently (but not always) getting a freeze when I open the Start menu. Is this a known issue? I hadn't installed any new software just prior, so I can't relate it to anything in particluar.

not an issue for me, and since no recent installs. I'm not sure. u talking froze or slow to open? if ur talking slow there is a hack to disable menu animation. (the way it looks like it slides down.) which increases speed of the menu.

check and see how much system resources u have used u may be using up all ur memory and that will call start menu to open slow and to crach and freeze. close all running applications and see if u still have a problem/

Thanks for the replies--

What happens is the Start menu appears, then nothing else happens & there's no key response.

It just happened now with about 20MB of available memory. I'm running HandySwitcher to automatically close programs so I don't think that's an issue.

seems to be fixed by disabling PocketBreeze. i posted a message on their forum...

I got rid of pocket breeze for just this type of thing. I like my PPC to run soothly so no today screen programs that update for me. If you use any today plug in that updates the performance will suffer. 8)
