Dead Speaker

I have a 6700 that has a dead system speaker, the one on the back of the phone. Everything else works fine, but it just doesnt ring/ play mp3's...

When that happened to mine, it couldn't be fixed. I ended up with an insurance replacement.

if it's just a bad speaker and not a phone issue, I have an extra...

you can always opt to buy another type of speaker with more power than the stock one if you want to mess with it. I successfully placed a speaker from a MM-9000 in the ppc6700...... it was quite a meticulous job, but with the right will it can be accomplished. Whenever you are looking for the replacement speaker do a search for micro-speakers... a ton will come up on the search.

Good luck on whatever you decide to do. maybe defaz can donate the extra one he has ;)

I too have replaced my speaker, used a kyocera 7135 - yeah it was some tedious work, but much better sound.

That being said, I wasn't to make sure you don't have an easier fix...

Some people have had what they thought was a bad speaker, only to find that somehow the little connector for the headphones was not completing the circuit.

The fix...

Plug a headphone into the jack, and try to get the connector to close.

I don't if it helps, but I wanted to make sure you didn't waste your time unnecessarily.
