UTStarcom ppc-6700 with Telus
 

I'm very new to this. Just picked up a used ppc-6700 with Telus Mobility. Unit freezes up quite often.
ROM: 2.09.20 WWE
ExtROM: 2.09.701 WWE
Radio: 1.14.00
I just installed this yesterday from the Telus website but have read that there is MUCH MORE STABLE newer Roms that I could use that will NOT affect my service with Telus???
Can anyone please help me out here....
I'm really stuck...

go to apache upgrades and download the kitchen, upgrade and flash it. i'm with telus as well and have no problems with it

First, Welcome to the site. The kitchen is a great tool for customizing your Apache with ROMs you yourself can customize. There are tutorials, GAMedic has one in the Apache forum that should explain quite a bit. Search, read, study. If you get stuck, we're here to help.

I'm not into customizing anything for myself...I'm simply looking for a stable ROM that I can install into my 6700 (my current Telus one is not stable at all). I've done some reading but there seems to be many different versions on this....what is the stable version that can be used with the 6700 and where can I find it....
Sorry I just don't want to make this thing inoperable....
I just want a working PDA.

Please use the search feature, you will only end up with headaches if you don't. You need to use the kitchen. There are no longer any pre made ROMs. You will need to use the kitchen. Do NOT use the WM6 upgrade from Helmi_c! It is old, buggy and VERY unstable.

OK I think I figured out how to build the ROM but when it gets to the actual flashing part (before it starts) it shows that I have NO RADIO version?? My old ROM had version 1.14.00 and the new ROM shows nothing. Do I need to install the RADIO separately ?? Or will it be bundled in the ROM?? And where would I find the latest version for Telus??

No, it is not going to update your radio. Therefore the section will be blank. All the kitchen does is update your ROM image, not the radio. It will stay the same version you had in the last ROM.

Perfect...I got a working version now...thanks for all your help.
One question though, is there some documentation on the different versions of the Apache releases?? The BuildOS had 4 different versions to choose from - I'd like to read up on the differences.

Not to my knowledge because the base is actually from MS. They do not document what has changed. We can only go by what differences we see. In order for this whole process to be 'legal' the base files must be unmoddified.
