Switched carriers, no EVDO
Did some searching on this, didn't find any solutions, so here goes.
Bought a 6700 from Bell in alberta last fall. Switched it over to Sasktel (Bell partner). At first couldn't get data to work, even with the proper user name and password for 1x. Friend of mine at a Sasktel dealer had to change a setting in one of the hidden menus and 1x works. Been dealing with 1x because I don't use data much (too bloody expensive). I want EVDO now. So, went over to PPC geeks, got the 3.5 aku kitchen, applied net cf2 to it. Then got the Sasktel specific ext-rom files and installed them as per (I'm new, it won't let me post the link, but it's here on ppcgeeks, it installed all the cabs fine) So, now I love my phone even more, but still no EVDO, 1x still works great. Talked to Sasktel, thinking there's a problem with Sasktel's end, they say thier end is working fine, and they won't support a non-sasktel purchased phone, and there's no way a dealer would have put a bell phone on their network, but they did. Any ideas? Sorry to make it so long. |
I have QPST working for this phone if that helps?
Anybody? Hello? |
Re: Switched carriers, no EVDO
Do you have a connection set up in the Settings -> Connections -> Connections ->My ISP -> Manage Existing Connections (or Add a new Connection if no existing connections are established).
The EVDO is seen as a dial-up modem and you need the dial-up number and credentials to log in to EVDO. I'm on Verizon, so the following probably won't help you, but for example, my EVDO connection dial-up number is #777, and for Verizon both username and password are left blank. If you don't have anything setup here, I don't believe you can connect to EVDO, but finding your carriers settings should be pretty easy. Quote:

yup, I have that set up. That's all the stuff you need to get 1x working, which works just fine. EVDO is supposed to take over once 1x connects.

anybody know how EVDO authenticates with the server? I thought I read somewhere that it validates the MSL.
