where did all my storage memory go?

My brand new 6700 only has about 500K of storage memory left. I sync'd with Outlook and installed only a few programs:
SmallMenu
Total Commander
StyleTap
phoneAlarm
Tweaks2k2
TCPMP
Adobe Reader
Pocket Informant

I deleted most of the preinstalled apps (not including Audible though) and have a 2 GB card coming today but I'm wondering how it got filled up so quick with such a small number of apps.

(My reference point is the 4GB Palm LifeDrive I've been using, so maybe I'm biased.)

u installed all of that to the main memory i assume right???

remember half of the total memory on the 6700 is for storage and half for programs

try using memaid, it will sure tell you in detail where al ur memory is :)

PIE eats up memory when you surf dont forget.

Also syncing your music accidentally (as I hide in embarassment) over kills your space fast too. (Although I swore I clicked that I would manage the music later thinking "no sync for you")

Yes--all is in main memory (my card is on the delivery truck!)

I don't have enough room to install MemMaid :o

The PIE file is big (6MB)--can I just delete it, or will MemMaid take care of this?

If you open PIE and click menu>tools>options
Delete your files and clear your history.... That will open up some space.

Thanks--just realized what PIE stands for

I had cleared that yesterday, so that's not contributing to the size bloat

How are you handling your Email attachments? Attachments to email and photos from the camera can use a lot of memory. Email folder that holds attachments looks like this in file explorer (inbox.mst########) Hope this helps

best bet is to install memmaid and use the graph feature to track down exactly where all ur memory is like bunny stated since u have cleared ur temp files.

ps when the card comes in do some moving things around. I personally have about 20mb in both free with a long list of programs installed.

denno 08-16-2006 04:47 PM

Windows is 62MB; is that typical?

Wideawake 08-16-2006 05:20 PM

yea mine is about 60mb too, and like I said I just hard reset myself.
~mike

ps u been unzipping a lot? if so clear the zip temp in the windows directory.
