Sorry, if this is a repeat but I am new to the xv6700 family and am eager to take my phone to its full potential.

What I am gathering is that the phone allots x amount of memory to the operating ROM (regardless of full content), and any additional programs we install go into the remainder of the storage space. Now is it possible to add programs that I use (and don't require updating) to the ROM so I can save some of the additional storage space? I am guessing that installing programs that require updating can't be installed into the ROM because of the updating issues.

The no-junk (Extended) ROM is one in which the .CAB files that are not needed after a hard reset have been removed and the config file altered to reflect their removal. I have read that Verizon 6700s do not need any .CAB files in their extended ROM. I have Sprint as my carrier and some .CABs are needed otherwise I will not have full functionality. The others (the junk) have been removed so they do not get loaded.

Even the required Sprint .CABs can be removed from the extended ROM once they have been loaded. They can be put back if another hard reset is needed.

The Verizon Extrom's are not required, but if you do not run them you need to do some extra configuration to get all phone features to work.

Just think of the ROM as a non-rewriteable CD-ROM. May as well fill it to the brim.
