Kirvin Clean & Simple Internet Explorer Problem
First: Great ROM. This thing is slim, fast, and stable. It's what should have been on the 6700 from jump.
I have only encountered one glitch so far, and it is that Internet Explorer sometimes shuts down immediately after loading a page. I read that someone else had this problem, and that it went away after moving the internet cache to the storage card. I, unfortunately, still have this intermittent problem, no matter where the cache is located. Does anyone have a fix for this, besides the soft reboot? It's a fairly annoying error in a system that is otherwise excellent. Thanks, Mike |
have you tried clearing the cache/cookies first..
then moving the directory to ext rom via regedit then soft reset? |
Well, I just put it all back in the original spot for troubleshooting. It's still doing it.
I'll try clearing everything and editing the location to put it on the storage card or ext rom (I'll try both) again. I can't recall if I cleared the cache before. Mike |
UPDATE:
I have everything back in the original location, cleaned the cache and rebooted. It seems to not be doing it anymore. I still would like to move it out of main memory, though, so I have a couple of questions. Good to know, though, that if it goofs up again, I can just keep it where it is normally and things will work OK. Questions: 1. Which is better for this use, extended_rom or storage card? 2. Is the cause of this error that the cache location is moved without the cache being cleared? Is IE looking for old files in the new location, finding none, and crashing? Thanks, Mike PS Love. This. ROM. |

Extended ROM is better... Annoying things can happen that rename your storage card if you try to use IE and the card is not in the unit for some reason, or it powers down the card...

That was what I was thinking. Thanks, Mike |
