XV6700 Release level
Now that my xv6700 is back and working fine, all this chatter about upgrading the OS got me looking. What I noticed at the UTStar site was a version for the SPRINT PPC6700 and one for the XV6700. I read with interest that release 1.13 for the Sprint PPC has some issues. Little has been said about the Verizon version.
Now, I don't know what my old XV had, but this one has 1.09. It is a bit different than the old one. I now have a louder ringer, a louder earpiece, and Voice Dialing. And on the UTStar site, there is a software upgrade for Verizon. No version is mentioned. Does anyone know what version UTStar is offering? Is it an upgrade from 1.09? |
I have installed the version from UTStar. But I do not know what the version is... But I have voice dialer, so I am gussing it is the same one. The voice dialer I have is worthless. You have to train it for each number you want to voice dial with.
Where exactly does it say on your phone which version it is. I know I have seen it, but I cannot find it. Thrilsekr |
for sprint press ##786# and you will find your software version

All that is really needed to know:
Verzion (latest) = AKU 2.2 Sprint (latest) = AKU 2.1 Hence why Verizon has some of those "better" features like the louder earpiece. Sprint was reported to be testing AKU 2.2 about a month or two ago and I heard around Sept/October for the next ROM update. That is all speculation. I'm personally hoping for AKU 2.3 or 3.0 (with A2DP official). We'll see. |
I did not notice any louder earpiece when I updated to aku 2.2.
It still pretty much sucks... Not nearly as loud as any other phone I have had even with the vol all the way up. Even though I know it is at the loudest setting, I find myself still trying to turn it up while in a call. Thrilsekr |
