Winows Mobile Device Center 6.1 Problems!

So on windows vista 64-bit you no longer just use active sync, but now Windows Mobile Device Center although it seems that it can run in the background via its driver and still sync. However, after I sync, WHERE DO MY CONTACTS/APPOINTMENTS, ETC go? They aren't in outlook 2003's contacts like with XP and they aren't in the vista contacts folder either.

Where the heck do they go? I feel like I am in the stone-age with this phone and vista is not making it any easier on me.

Sorry, but have to ask the obvious Q, e.g. if you selected your sync options in WMDC and the 6700. There you can select to sync contacts, calendar, tasks, files, etc. Then they should go to Outlook 2003. To avoid any loss of data due to unexpected syncing, backup the calendar/contacts on the 6700 with PIMbackup:

ok so i can back up with pim backup and then lets say I get a new device (touch pro) i can transfer it to that? I was hoping sync could do that. And yeah I checked those options. I know it syncs because I can delete contacts and syncing gets them back. I just cant figure out where the hell they go! I know it went to outlook in XP but maybe i need to search harder or something...

According to the user guide, the backup is independent of Windows Mobile version and device:

So I take it that it is a new installation and the Outlook 2003 has no contacts? But you delete off the 6700 and the PC syncs back the deleted contacts? Are you doing an Exchange server sync or something like that? Have you tried to put a contact in Outlook and see if it syncs to the 6700? If you can't do that, I'd say your Outlook is bad and you should reinstall or repair. I also dunno if Outlook 2003 will run right on 64-bit Vista....Oh, again, sorry for the obvious Q, but you did install WMDC 6.1 for Vista 64-bit, right?
