VERIZON MMS STEPS- DETAILED
 

**** DO THESE STEPS IN ORDER TO HAVE THIS WORK PROPERLY*******

OK, because I know this has been an issue with so many people, I have decided to make a new post describing exactly how to fix this problem. Now this is working on the Verizon XV6700 using Kirvin's Clean and Simple 3.5

Make sure you do not allow Verizon to run their rom or this will not work!!!!! (THANKS friguy3)

After loading Kirvin's Clean and SImple...you must setup your data connection... click on the icon and setup a new server...

ENTER NAME OF CONNECTION: My Connection

SELECT MODEM: Cellular Line

NUMBER TO BE DIALED: #777

USER NAME: "your 10 digit phone number"@vzw3g.com

PASSWORD: vzw

DOMAIN: Leave this blank


You then need to modify your registry to the following!

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\mm1\WspHeader]

You first need to make a STRING in this folder...

THe name of ths string is X-VzW-MDN
The value of the string is your 10 digit phone number

Should look like this:

"X-VzW-MDN"="your 10 digit phone number" e.g. 1234567890<--------- make sure you add this to the folder or this wont work!!!!!!!

Then find the following strings and change their values to the following:

"User-Agent"="utstar67kv1"

"Accept"="application/vnd.wap.multipart.related"

"Accept-Language"="en"


*****also found you can change the size limit here Scroll down to UI\Sizelimit, and change sendlimit 3 value to 512000 (this 500K)

Once you have done this, make sure you have set up your MMS server correctly. When you click on messaging and the server tab you will see SPRINT. Click on add new and enter the following. I left the sprint one there because I didn't want to change anything.

Server Name: Verizon Wireless
Gateway: blank
Port#: 80
Server Address: http://mms.vtext.com/servlets/mms
Connect Via: (whichever you use to connect to the internet)
Sending Size: 500K <----- changed my sizelimit to get this...if you don't change the limit you won't see 500K
WAP: WAP 2.0



Ok, now that you have done all the work, your going to press the camera on and notice there is no MMS Video when you try to find one. Since I am not going to be taking video from phone (quality is not great) I changed the VIDEO settings as follows:

CAPTURE MODE: VIDEO
CAPTURE FORMAT: 3GPP2
CAPTURE SIZE: Large (320x240)
Checked the box Record Limitation: Choose: 500kb

After doing all this, I soft reseted the phone. I then opened up the Camera under VIDEO...shot a test and WHAAAA LAAA it works.

why use 3GPP2 and not MPEG-4? or will verizon just change it to 3GPP2 itself so it doesnt do anything. isnt MPEG-4 a little better?

quick question.. if i were to stop VZW customization... and just use the phone the way it is without someone's rom flash on my 6700 would these steps work? are they even necessary?

When I try this I get the following errors:

Data Call Failure
Error Code: 3
Network Rejected

and

Error Code 37
Miscellanious Erroneously Mobile IP Set Up Occurred


I've checked my setting over and over, reflashed and tried again, and cannot get it to work. Any ideas?

i got it working but as far as i can tell you should use kirvins clean and simple and do NOT let the verizon customizations run. soft reset before it starts then do as it says...try that

Kirvin's Clean and Simple actually has all the necessary programs needed without running the extended rom.

I actually deleted my extended rom to save space. Like friguy3 said, when you set up Kirvin's rom, and then hard reset, set up the date and time then before the customizations will start in 3 seconds screen pops up, press the reset button.

This will then stop the extended rom from running and restart the ppc. I followed the steps that I outlined and it works.

THere is no reason to let the extended rom run if you are using the AKU 3.5 extended rom unless otherwise told to do so.

If you run the extended rom the Arcsoft software will not work!

you knew about the registry edits? this has been talked about in maybe 5 threads, multiple people working on this over the past several months, and you just saw this now? id say thank you if you had come forward and told us months ago. it is still a known problem in BigJ's Revision 9.5 (Mario!) ROM.

I'm just glad you guys all got it working, not that it matters, cuz there are very few of us VZW guys, and the rest are sprint.

I guess I'm just pi$$y today. Maybe it has to do with the fact that there has been a functional rc4 kitchen somewhere for weeks now, and no one shares it. But, thats another rant....

i apologize too...its what the wife does to me ya know...us verizon guys do have to stick together!

Other than that, it seems this will only work with the Clean and Simple rom, I havent been able to get it to work with some other roms due to having to install Arcsoft myself.

When I install it myself, it doesn't let me choose any video format and the file browser is different. It seems that his version is different than all the other arcsoft cabs. It doesn't even work when I install the arcsoft cab from the ext rom...

I havent tried the roms like BigJ's with it packaged in, but if we could figure out how to solve the file browsing problem, we could play with a lot more customized roms :)

I was not trying to upset anyone and not give "props" to some people. I could never find the thread you sent out unfortunately.

Just decided to put all the steps in one thread instead of having to flip flop back and forth through several different pages.

sry, i was really in a pissy mood, Im better now. So now we have it solved, whats the next problem for us vzw users? Maybe an oem for our extrom... Colonel was working on one, but he gave up, mostly due to the fact he has sprint :)

Just a note, I am able to send MMS messages with sardinour's rom

I installed the ROM, then HArd reset before the verizon customizations.

I then installed the following 2 cabs:

getMMSCtxMenuInfo
Apache_vzw_MMS3.0.6.24_2060124


I checked the registry and all the settings were already there.


I may try to increase the size and see if that makes a difference though

You don't need to add anything...MMS software is already installed when you install Kirvin's rom.

By installing the .cab files you are actually making your device see two differnt programs and that is why it is not working

I'm not using Kirvins ROM.....

AND MMS IS working.......


I put that info there because someone mentioned that they couldn't get it to work with other ROMs

Hrm I swore I was having the same problems after installing on Sard's rom but I'll have to test again. I've been switching back and forth between so many roms Im getting all jumbled up.

As far as making an OEM for the vzw extrom, is that just making the oem's of all the cabs in the extrom for use in a kitchen?

Im still pretty new to this and starting to cook my own rom based off what I could find off the ftp.

Yeah I just reinstalled Sard's pr6 after stopping customizations and installed the two cabs listed above from ext rom. Still having the same issue with flix msging and not being able to browse video to send.

Are you sure your video msging is working? My picture MMS seems to work fine.

On another note I was poking around the ftp and found Kirvin's kitchen that he used, I hope he didnt mind me downloading it. It looks like the MMS package he used was just the same one listed in the kitchen oems (fin's mms or whatever), so we know that one works for sure for any future cooked roms we build to insure video msging works.

Im gonna try to see what I can do about building the oems for the extrom, but I still have a lot of learning to do and I wouldn't know where to begin to test after successfully doing anything :wink:

this works... i got Kirvin's Clean and simple.. and i have verizon.. tested it before and after.. and it fixed it... Just make sure to set up your new mms configuration as default once following the steps

FLIX file size being sent

First of all, thank you so much for the great documentation! I've been battling the FLIX problems on these ROMS for months now. I loaded Kirvin's Clean and Simple, used these setup instructions and it actually works! (I'm on Verizon by the way)

I have a question though... If I compose a MMS and attach a 212K file, it sends with no problem. However, when I receive it back or even send it to other people, it comes in as an 85K file. The attachment is being compressed or something somewhere along the way. I can receive 200K + message though with no problem.

Any ideas by chance? I really appreciate the help and thanks again for the great info!!

Thanks for the help. I followed all the steps you posted and got the MMS operating again. Since I didn't let the Verizon custom settings install how do I get the wireless sync software back? and also I noticed that the added ringtones are not there. Before I made the mistake of letting the Verizon custom settings install and there were alot of added ringtones, and all new ones that I didn't have originally. Any way of adding them back?

I'm having trouble getting my MMS setup. I just installed Kirvin's AKU 3.5 NoJunk, and its awesome. However, I am having trouble editing my registry to get the MMS working. I am having trouble getting this string in here:

"Accept"="application/vnd.wap.multipart.related"

For some reason, I can't fit the whole value into the box, the phone refuses to let me finish typing the value, it will stop after I get ...multipart.rel in, I can't finish the word "related". What the hell is going on? I have done everything else, edited the registry, set up a MMS server, added the data connection.

I am using RegEditCe to edit the registry, could that program be the problem? I see that Total Commander is part of the 3.5 ROM, can I edit the registry using that somehow? I am unfamiliar with the program and couldn't find a way to do it.

excellent guide, i can send but i cannot recieve

messaging will dial to get out and sends messages successfully. i got excited, sent a few test messages out, and then i asked several other people to send me messages, i even sent one from verizons online form

i am using the arcsoft mms composer version 3.0.16.6 included in clean and simple. when i tell the app to send/receive, it just displays 'finished' and nothing else

i have double checked my settings against this thread, and come up with one question, for the '777' account is it supposed to be under 'my isp' or 'my work network', i currently have it under 'my work', is that my problem

by the way, i apologize for my horrible punctuation, my keyboard died recently and i have lost all functionality with my shift keys

how do you know you are sending MMS? someone is telling you they receive it fully or it disappears from your screen? if you send you should be able to receive. try turning off the data connection (you can hold the red hangup button for 3 seconds and it should turn off) then go to MMS messages and click send/receive and it should dial in again...maybe that will click it over. and are you getting a MMS but you cant get the picture? or no MMS at all.

Ok, so I figured out the errors I was having before, it was a problem on Verizon's end. Someone put the incorrect data plan on my phone (Data PAYGO instead of BBA PAYGO). I can receive picture and video messages just fine, but when I try to compose a new MMS, nothing happens. I push new and the phone doesn't do anything. I've tried launching it from my picture gallery, but again it does nothing when I push send via MMS. Any ideas?

does anyone know is there anyway to do this or get a program to do this on a telecom CDMA

I just cooked my own ROM using the 1.04 kitchen, followed the steps in this thread, and i FINALLY can send picture messages again!

NO GO with these steps. mine;s 1.0.4. keeps on saying message delivery failed !

MAKE SURE the X-VzW-MDN is a STRING and not a DWORD...i deleted the original and made a new one just in case and it finally worked for me...

My data/mms works without filling out any info into the username / password fields...

Is there any reason to use your phone number / and a password for data connections?
