Sending VCard through email ... sorta works
Ok, so I've been running aku3.5 for a couple weeks now, and have had no use for MMS. None. Until I noticed in contacts that you can send a contact as a vcard.
That got me to thinking. The MMS treats it like an attachment, so that attachment has to temporarily live SOMEWHERE right? Digging around with file explorer I've found two places the vcard ends up at: My Device\Application Data\Volatile\UATemp & My Documents\UAContents\MMS UA So if you set up an MMS like you were going to send it, then pick the .vcf out of one of those two locations and save it somewhere else (I've set up a 'VCards' folder on my SD card), rename it (so you know whose card it is), then voilÃÂ*! You have a VCard you can send through an email. Not really THAT convenient, and I dont know how relevant vcards are these days (I still like them better than typing all my info out), but as I mostly need to email my business info, this'll come in handy having that ready to go. Again of course I'm working on the clean and simple 3.5 for Sprint 6700's. Enjoy! |
I have a 6700 on Telus - I've never seen the "send as Vcard" option that many people with wm5/6 mention. I'm running 6 now... How do I enable/install that option?

JickBahTech, nice find. In the past I have just sent vcards directly from the MMS app to an email address, but yours seems the best way to integrate vcards with the onboard email. I never send my own vcard (that's what signatures are for) but it's still the quickest way to share information from my contact list with others others. |
