3.5 ROM's and Verizon MMS (problems)
I've been testing everybody’s 3.5 ROM, and I must say...wow! What a real improvement from the standard Verizon 2.2.
However, one common theme is that MMS does not work correctly with any of the 3.5 ROMS. The problem that I have is only related to viewing (recieving FLIX messages works), or sending FLIX Messages. The standard Arcsoft application will not view FLIX messages anymore internally (work around is to launch the file with windows media player), and I am not able to compose FLIX messages at all. I get either a "File Format Not Supported" error when I try and compose one directly from the camera, or when I try and manually pick a *.3gp or *.3g2 file from a directory within the composer...it does not list those files, even though I know they are in the directory. I'm thinking there are serious compatibility issues with the Verizon MMS package and 3.5. Are there any other MMS applications we could use, or is there an update to arcsoft that is compatible? I really enjoy the FLIX feature on my phone, and I know this has been discussed before...but I haven't seen a post that addressed these issues specifically. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
I think there are atleast 2 running threads about this problem. i am using 2.2 for this only reason. if u install a rom and dont let verizon install anything, i could get an arcsoft MMS working with flix, but as soon as i softrest, all back to same old thing (the not supporting thing). not sure there are too many people that care about flix cause everytime its brought up, a coupe people say try this, maybe someone will have to look into it, and yet it still doesnt work. thought it might have something to do with a MMS installed when you flash and then another ontop of that. im not close to a programmer so i dont know ebough...id LOVE to get this working. someone wanted to look at the registry and post it, but didnt know how...
http://ppcgeeks.com/mms-messages-won...deo-t3726.html and here on his known issues and near the end of the thread...look for my name... http://ppcgeeks.com/bigjs-revision-9...-07-t3270.html |
@friguy3
Did you export the registry settings for mms in 2.2? I would like to get them from you so I can compare the settings on 3.5. I'm hoping that there is a difference there that might make it work. |
i have no idea how to get those settings, i have phm regedit on my phone. i follow directions well if you could tell me how. ill do anything to fix this :P
|
I'm not sure how to do this on that program as I use Resco Explorer. I would imagine that there should be an export feature somewhere in that program.
|
Nevermind. I loaded up 2.2 myself. I will post if I find something.
|
thanks...sorry for the ignorance....im learning! hope you find something....
|
Just remove the arcsoft mms oem package from the 3.5 kitchen and let the verizon extended rom install, or don't let the verizon extended rom install and selectively run that mms package from extended rom.
|
kinda understand, but could you explain that a little more. id love to know exactly how to remove it from the kitchen. not sure what else the verizon installation does, but i liked it cause i was told it added some other basic things that didnt take up any real space...true? is there a difference in the 2 MMS programs?
|
I didn't think the base ROMs came with a mms program. The Verizon mms doesn't work on it either.
I have found a couple of reg keys that were not in the 3.5 ROMs but that hasn't fixed everything yet. I guess I will need to look at creating my own ROM to see if that works. My wife should love that. :) |
ha ha...she can call my wife and they can have a husband bashing conversation...as long as she lets you work this out! i had given up...now im excited again!
|
so i tried verizonguys rom 3.5 rom...if i dont let verizon set up, i can make a flix message, then there is the problem of sending. i can set up the #777, but the problem is setting up the server in MMS-->Menu-->MMS Configuration-->Servers. that only seems to be able to be setup if you run one of the verizon cabs in the extended rom, then you get the server set up, but now it installs a new arcsoft MMS so you cant make a flixMMS anymore! someone needs to maybe tease out the set up server function of the MMS and voila that would work. or...if verizonguys did not install any arcsoftMMS and let verizons extrom install it itself...hope this helps...???
|
does this help to fix the MMS Flix problem with verizon?

No it doesn't. I gave those registry settings a shot and nothing doing. I will keep working on this but I will be on vacation for the next week and might not get a chance until I get back. I'll post if I find anything.

There is a registry setting that you have to change that allows you to change the server settings. Then you change the settings to this:
Server Name: Verizon Wireless Gateway: blank Port#: 80 Server Address: http://mms.vtext.com.servlets/mms Connect Via: (whichever you use to connect to the internet) Sending Size: 350k WAP: WAP 2.0 Is this the info you are looking for? |
what are the regisrty settings? when i tried to add the server before the seding size only had 3 options the biggest being like 260 and there was no wap 2, i think 1 and 1.2, but i couldnt get it to how verizon does it

guys, I FINALLY found the fix for this problem after so many months. At least for me the only ROM that worked was Kervin's Simple and Clean, and I had to setup the MMS settings myself. I was getting "Originator Address not found" and checked and found this post by Computercarl buried in search...
" Yeah, I think I'm missing a few reg keys, I'm just compared to a functional 6700 w/ the real vzw cab, and there were a few different. I exported them, and slapped them in.. Here were the ones missing/different... I bet they are important Smile [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\mm1\WspHeader] "X-VzW-MDN"="myphonenumberwasinhere" "User-Agent"="utstar67kv1" "Accept"="application/vnd.wap.multipart.related" "Accept-Language"="en" EDIT: Those fixed it. " WORKED LIKE A CHARM WOOOOOOOOT! _________________ |
after you installed the kirvin clean and simple did u let the verizon customizations run or softreset to not let them? if i dont i have problems setting up the server in the mss configurations.
i tried it, but still get the Originator Address not found, i go back to the registry and it changed the X-VzW-MDN to a different number! as soon as i put in a 10 digit number with the first being my area code (718) it changed the number to another number, if i put in 1234567890, it keeps it |
can send pix AND flix
I GOT IT! adding that X-VzW-MDN"="myphonenumberwasinhere" is a STRING...also found you can change the size limit here Scroll down to UI\Sizelimit, and change sendlimit 3 value to 512000 (this is 500K)
I AM THE HAPPIEST MAN ALIVE! to everyone that was working on this, i owe you a very big THANK YOU!!!!!![/b] |
Ok you got what! It still will not let you send video's. It says that file is not supported.
I even went a step further and in the registry added the .gpp2 format to the accepted file types and I am still getting the error message for video MMS. I know when my wife sends test video message it is formated as .gp2. xv6700 is for some reason formating the pictures as .gpp2. I have looked everywhere and done everything to change it without positive results. Pictures are able to be sent with Colonel's ROM and Kirvin's but the problem is the VIDEO MMS. No one has found out a reason that MMS VIDEO is not working!!!! If someone has, please post it so that I can go back to 3.5 |
you cant let the verizon ext rom to load...i think it will load 2 arcosft MMS programs. i loaded kirvins clean and simple. made the registry changes. added a #777 dial in, changed the server in the MMS configurations...and it works...i CAN send video. if you load another arcsoft it wont recognize the files...
|
I had already tried this with no luck. If it is now working for you it must have to do with the lack of 2 MMS programs being loaded. Good to know you got it working though. :)
