Cannot access most storage card files

I am using a Sprint 6700 with an AKU 3.5 ROM. I have a 2GB SanDisk Mini-SD card that I've been using successfully for over a year and all of a sudden most of the data on the card is unaccessible. For example, there are numerous MP3 files on the card, but I cannot access them or see them no matter what application I try (media players, file explorer, Total Commander, etc.). There are a couple of visible files like my Outlook inbox attachments, Live Search cache and my picture storage, but that's about it.

I tried to add MP3 files to the card, but it runs out of space. So it appears the files are still on the storage card and taking up the space, but there is no way to access the files. I also have applications like .NET Compact Framework 2 on the storage card and while I can't view this application, Live Search works (it wouldn't work if .NET CF2 wasn't available).

Any suggestions? I was hoping I wouldn't have to reformat the card and have to add all of the files and applications all over again. A friend who has a Verizon 6700 had the same issue, but his files started showing up again out of nowhere and he didn't do anything to try to fix the problem. I have had this problem going on two weeks.

try removing the card. do a soft reset, after your ppc loads then insert the card and try it. i am afraid you may have to format it. mine got zapped with static electricity and did what yours is doing.

how do we go about formatting a storage card from the phone itself or through activesync?

hmm

I had the same problem a week ago. I installed wa2 and everything on my card disappeared except 2 folders. one being the live one like you. a day later it all showed back up without me changing a thing. hmmm. maybe wait a day and see if you have my luck?

I would immediatly put it in a card reader and backup it contents, then format the card normal fat. Then restore contents.
I would not wait for any corruption to mess up my card.

When this happened to me I found a program online that allowed me to format the card from the phone. It had a free trial.

I had it on my old laptop...but can not seem to locate it now.

I did find this one online with a google search though...

SKTools has a bunch of storage card utilities, one of them being a format...

Last time I had a problem with my MiniSD I couldn't read it in Windows (via a card reader) or the phone, I actually had to just buy a new one, it was totally fried :(...

good luck!

I'm having similar problem after using 'Clean and Simple for Sprint' for about a month or so. Something's definately fishy here. It never happened before.

A couple times I found not being able to access programs on storage card. Each time I found two 'storage card' folders: storage card and storage card2, and the real storage card was assigned to 2 and 'storage card' folder had live search cache and email attachment folders created. I simply deleted 'storage card' folder and renamed 'storage card2' back to 'storage card'; and all seemed to work fine. This had happened several times and now the real storage card is simply gone, but the content seems to be taking up the space.

I have push email enabled most of the time and it looks like there was a moment phone didn't recognize the original storage card and automatically created the attachment folder. Could the storage card not be recognized at certain times? Maybe while the phone is off and push email is synchronized? I'm puzzled.

Yepp that is exactly the problem. If you have email being saved to memory card or applications that save cache, etc to storage card, when the ppc wakes up and doesnt see the storage card it will create a storage card folder. to fix the storage card2 problem, either do not save attachments to storage card or allow any apps to save to storage card by changing settings. or just simply remove storage card, del the existing storage card folder, and then reinsert storage card. works every time.
