Bad radio , hardware or software?
 

Tried to activate a xv6700 myself could not program it, took it to the verizon store they spent an hour getting it to program. even after activating the unit shows no bars and looses call in a area where i have full bars on any other phones. After activation I tried to update towers and it would not update, The phone originally had wm5 and had not been upgraded, I loaded wm6.1 and updated the radio, it still has no bars. Is it junk? Other functions work well wi-fi etc.

Sound like physical problem with antenna... Good chance someone tried to hook up an external and broke the connector... (Not hard to do, they are poor design IMHO) Recommend replacing phone...

Radio hardware is bad.....only way to fix is have phone replaced.
