Bluetooth broken? "No bluetooth device installed"

Allright guys so a quick story. I had originally upgraded my 6700 with 6.1_helmi, which i have on another 6700. Once I accomplished this on my version 2 machine, my bluetooth hasnt worked. I have tried to go back to original VZW software, 141 radio, 123 radio, etc. It will eventually give an error when trying to start the bluetooth radio, something along the lines "Bluetooth hardware not installed/ error". I know it worked before I did the upgrade, but how can i get it working again? I think its bricked. Everything else works though, and my version 1 machine works great still with the same kitchen! Any ideas?](*,)

Thanks
J

hmm.....never seen this one before. But let me completely understand and clarify that you went to UTStars page here and clicked here to download the VZW ROM right? And after the seperate radio flash you are still getting the BT not found error?

When you said "same kitchen" did you mean same ROM on both 6700s? You might have to optimize recipe 'cuz your BL 1.XX (bigger) and BL 2.XX (smaller) have different ROM size allocations.

I meant I used the original Helmi_C kitchen for 6.1, but adjusted the amount of programs to fit the 2.0 device. I actually got the VZW rom off of their website... Is there a difference?

Thanks,
J

Re: Bluetooth broken? "No bluetooth device installed"

I tried the HTC upgrade, but that didnt work. It actually caused me to loose all my signal on the radio too. I'm currently trying the vzw again, but there is something interesting. I forgot that I had to use the NO_ID files extracted from the bootloader fix, in order to upgrade, which i didnt have to use on the version 1.. Any ideas?

Thanks

This is a WM5 ROM but try it and see. You will have to go into BL mode before running it. Try it and lemme know what happens

No deal. I installed it without any hitches, but the bluetooth will still not turn on. I just get that spinning quadrant (like the beachball in MAC, or hourglass in xp.)then it dissapears with no errors, or turning BT on. This hasnt worked since my downgrade to 2.02BL. Any more ideas?

Thanks Alot

Re: Bluetooth broken? "No bluetooth device installed"

WOW bro. I going to go out on a limb and say hardware related at this point because I know you have hard reset and flash to several different ROMs including the one I listed above which isnt a ROM built by a Kitchen (sometimes you can screw those up). So with that of changing the ROMs and hard resetting, what else could it be other than hardware based issues? IDK for sure but usually my guesses are pretty close if not dead on.

All of your instructions for the hardware are in the ROM. The only thing the ROM doesnt change is the EPST and Radio. But if the device will make and rec' calls then the radio is fine. But then again I have never seen nor heard of a radio going partially out. Usually if it goes, all of it goes.

Re: Bluetooth broken? "No bluetooth device installed"

Wow, that sucks. I should have never downgraded from 2.04 to 2.02 thats the time when it stopped working. I also got errors when downgrading, so im sure that is what happened. Is there a way to go back to 2.04?

Re: Bluetooth broken? "No bluetooth device installed"

Prolly the downgrade. Have you tried the downgrade again with the hopes of no errors?

Saw this reg hack. If this doesn't turn it on, Weed's right with the hardware problem. Unless you can find a way to reload the BT stack drivers?
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...h+stack&page=2 (last post)

btl1 is the device name for the Bluetooth radio. For more device information, see HKLM\Devices\Active.

Alternatively, power management for Bluetooth can be disabled completely using the following registry mod (NOTE: this may adversely affect your battery life):

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\Bluetooth device\Parms] "DisablePowerManagement"=dword:00000001

Allright, now i recieve the error: "The bluetooth failed to turn ON due to insufficent driver memory available. You must perform a normal reset before you can turn on the Bluetooth Radio." Ideas?

Re: Bluetooth broken? "No bluetooth device installed"

Did it turn on with the reset????? That should get you some memory back...

Re: Bluetooth broken? "No bluetooth device installed"

Nope, still recieving the same error... Its a nice and clean install with nothing in it. I wonder if it is from the BL downgrade..

Re: Bluetooth broken? "No bluetooth device installed"

If you read the "fine print" the BL reversion is prolly the only chance that you can really "brick" the phone (taken from that stcky):
NOTE: IT IS STILL VERY POSSIBLE TO BRICK YOUR DEVICE SO PROCEED WITH CAUTION. BOOTLOADER IS NOT THE SAME AS EXT_ROM, RADIO OR OS!!!!!!!!!!!
So if you had any errors, it could be a reason. But as alot of ppl have said, the radio is not selectively disabled. So that only your BT went out, has to be hardware.

Re: Bluetooth broken? "No bluetooth device installed"

Oh well, Looks like this phone goes in my junk pile. I really need BT for driving and work... I'm sure thats what it was, either way every option has been checked which leaves me out bt for awhile. thanks
