Best PRL?
For the Kansas City, Mo. market which would be the best PRL to use? I am using a Apache, Radio 1.43 and WM 6 Professional. My reception is pretty good if I am outside, but inside a building I am lucky to get 1 bar, 2 at max.
Any ideas? Thanks |
Re: Best PRL?
Go outside to call. Seriously, PRL update isn't going to change how much signal the building absorbs.

Re: Best PRL?
That is what I thought, but figured I would give it a shot anyway. I did notice that when I am inside certain places my signal would be almost non-existant, but while inside other places I would get a full signal so I wondered if that had anything to do with the PRL file.
Is there anyway (within reason) to get a better signal inside other than standing on your head, backwards, upside down in the bathtub? |
Re: Best PRL?
that sounds like spam, and I'm not talking about a type of potted meat

Re: Best PRL?
Spam?? I am afraid you lost me on that one.

Re: Best PRL?
yes, your prl can effect the quality of your signal. I have been involved in situations where simply reloading the same prl fixes odd dead spots.
the prl is a indexed list of towers.. if there is data corruption somewhere when it's loaded, then the whole index is out of wack. it will still work because it's designed that way, but a clean file works better. edit I knew I mis-spoke slightly, but for clarity sake Quote:

Re: Best PRL?
Now off to do some searching to find some PRL files and see if any work better than others for me.

Re: Best PRL?
Well, I found a PRL that put me into EVDO, but now when I make a call it seems to put me into roaming...at least that is what the announcement says "Welcome to the cricket network. Please stand by while your call is connected" but I see no roaming symbal, it does however goto 1X instead of EVDO when I make a call, and once I am off the phone I get a strong signal and it goes right back to EVDO.
Anyone have any ideas on this? |
Re: Best PRL?
phone calls are always in 1x, but other than that I'm not much help as i'm on sprint.
