TCPMP player lagging

For some reason after I had to totally redo my phone movies are now lagging when I play them with TCPMP. I can't figure out what is going on or why it is doing this. I have tried changing the buffer size, but nothing has helped. Anyone have any ideas?

What are the file extentions on the movies and how are they encoded? Are you encoding them yourself or DL'ing them from a site?

The extensions are .avi and .mpg (mpeg) and have been downloaded from a site directly. They worked fine before, but now are extremely jerky. almost impossible to watch.

I tried encoding the files to .3gp but then the video and audio don't sync up.

Yeah usually MPGs and AVIs work fine for me. I use CorePlayer and its buffering is at 2400kb. I can do screenshots if needed.

What version of Windows Mobile are you running? If you say 6.1, there is your problem.

Windows Mobile 6 Professional
CE OS 5.2.1620 (Build 18125.0.4.2)

I think I found a temporary fix by using PocketDivxEncoder. But I would really like to get this fixed without encoding movies.

Codecs can sometimes be finicky. But WM6.1 is so buggy that it doesn't help. It gradually eats more resouces until the system crashes. At least it does for me. Try flashing back to stock ROM and see if it still does it. You might also turn off overclocking, if it is turned on.

This was originally a verizon phone that has been flashed over to cricket. Overclocking is off...tried turning it on and it didn't help one bit. Not sure where I could find a stock cricket ROM.

I'm sorry, but I am no help with Cricket. I don't know squat about them, other than several people seem to have a hard time flashing to Cricket. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable can drop a link. Also, if anyone has a good link to a Cricket OEM ROM, let me know and i'll add it to the OEM ROM thread.

Well while I do not think Cricket or its provisioning on a VZW phone is the issue, I keep leaning back towards the encoding process involved bc keep in mind these movies in mpeg and avi that you DL'ed are for a full size PC screen in 800*600 or even 1024*768 and not for 320*240. And even if that isnt the issue (video compression) then still the audio CoDec could be it. Use something like GSpot to find out all the info about the file you are trying to play.
