After rom install-help!!!!..volume is gone!!!

i always try out the latest rom to test out and enjoy, so i (properly)installed the latest rom from kirvin 3.5 stock rom and after the install i lost all volume... i enabled all sounds, screen taps, turned the volume on high and still no volume at all. is it possible that a hardware driver was kicked out of the phone during the process of the install? i tried reverting back to past roms, but there was no change at all. i had this same problem happen to a friend of mine who never changed her rom(she mostly uses her 6700 as phone and not much else). she took it to sprint for them to fix the volume and they gave her a new treo to replace it. i don't want to give up my 6700,so can anyone please give some sound advice on what to do about this problem? any and all info concerning this issue will be greatly appreciated...

To get it back flash it with the original sprint rom. Once back you can proceed with custom roms.

i already tried this and the problem was not corrected...

If that is the case than it can't be software related. That would indicate a hardware failure.

it seems that my speakerphone went completely dead in the process of a rom upgrade. i reverted back to the sprint rom and tried to use the speakerphone to no avail. any and all sounds that come through the speaker is dead...nothing seems to work-this really sucks!

you might be right...can constant flashing of new roms cause a hardware malfunction?

Not positive but I seriously doubt it. If that is the case mine should be toast by now  I have flashed mine like 20 times tonight alone.

Try inserting the headset plug into the headset port on the bottom of the phone. Can you hear the sounds through there? Then try unplugging it and plugging it back in and see if you can get your sounds back that way. Sometimes that port gets something "stuck" and fools the phone into thinking the headset is plugged in when it really isn't (which mutes the speaker).

However, with that said, my very first 6700 (bought in late September 05) had its speaker die and had to be replaced. I was so sad to see it go too because it was one of the old "red logo" versions with the white keyboard backlight instead of blue. So much better, but you gotta have a speaker!

Good luck.

Had the same thing happen to my original 6700, i could only hear sounds if i had a headset plugged in. Had to have it replaced

thanks for the informative responses guys, i woke up this morning and the sound worked out of the speaker every now and again,i guess it is really dying :( . i upgraded my rom from the sprint rom back to saridnour's rom,the sound worked for a little while and went dead again.. i guess the best thing to do is to revert back to the original sprint rom and drop it off to the nearest sprint location..
