HELP: This is driving me crazy.

First: Jeff, as always amazing job, updated to new Generic ROM for 1 day now and so far, its amazing.

No for my problem: Jeff (anyone) how the heck do you start data connection without waiting for a program to envoke it. I see the icon in comm manager but it does not turn it on just stops it when it is running.

I even loaded GBSoft and set it to always on, but the minute you get a call it is disabled and no way to turn it back on unless you reset (or have some program envoke it).

The slight drop in speed is a side effect of the extra RAM. I've made a different set of tradeoffs between speed and RAM than most people do. Most of the time, you don't notice, but the glyphcache and filesystem caches are smaller than everyone else's tweaked builds. This can be changed in the registry or via something like SKTools if it's really two slow for you, but what you add to them you take away from your available RAM for other programs.

There is no right answer here. It's a balancing act. I've erred on the side of more available RAM, but it's pretty easy to change.

I guess my question is why you care. If it does enable the connection when the connection is needed by an application, where is the problem?

I don't see this on my own device, but that's because I use Direct Push from 7:30am to 11:30pm. But in the middle of the night, my data connection does behave as you describe. It's off, but if I manually check my mail or fire up IE at 4 in the morning, it connects just fine.

Just personal preference, for some reason sometime apps have a problem to automatically load the Data Connection so I like to have a way of starting/stopping it myself.

Someone pointed me to the perfect app. by Vijay555 that solves my problem. So not no problems.

Loaded this ROM on a Verizon phone last night and like it so far, but it did hang at the splash screen today and the only cure was a hard reset. Hope that doesn't become a habit.

Thanks again Jeff.
