Ok real quick...I think I might have noticed something about this battery drain problem. With AKU 2.2 the data connection would "sleep" when it wasn't being used; although it would keep it's connection. With 3.5 it never "sleeps" so it is a full-time data connection.
Now, those not seeing the battery drain may not be using any apps that are accessing data services...for the rest of us any data connection will force the connection and thus the constant "on" of the data stream. If we can find out how to re-enable the sleep functionality...I think we will have perfection. FYI...I may only have 2 posts...but I have been doing this stuff for a while. I used to be here before but I bought a new car and interest for the 6700 waned but now that I have the car set up the way I like it...I'm back to the 6700. Ahhh...tis good to be back. |
You can't look at the arrows any more to see if the connection is active or not. That ability no longer works in AKU 3.x builds.
Your best bet for judging whether your data connection is active is to use the app acbpowermeter to look at the current draw on the battery. |

As a side note, been on vacation for a few days (push turned off, beam off, signed out of MS communicator and my battery life is fantastic. i.e. no noticeable difference. |
the simple things?
as i mentioned a few posts back the simple reg hack for the data connection disconect button fixed most of my batt drain problems its quick and easy
with any reg editor it goes like this HKLM\ControlPanel\Phone\NewDWORD Value\ Value Name=Flags2 Value data= "Hexidecimal" 10 after this is done exit out of reg editor tap on EV at the top of the screen when the drop down box appears there will be a new option that says "Disconnect" tap on it and no more data transfer this feature alone has added approx 3 hours of standby time to my batt life hope this helps |
Hmm... I don't know what you all are complaining about with battery life... I'm getting a good 4-5 days worth of usage (light calls/moderate data) and I keep forgetting to disconnect my EVDO.
That said, why do you need to use that hack? Just hold in the Explorer button until the comm manager comes up, then click on the data connection to disconnect it. Piece of cake and no registry mod. |
why indeed
heck i guess that "if" my wife had a REG editor id be messin around in there all the time just my need to tinker i guess

Yeah, after I posted that I kind of noticed the same and it's simply verified by what you guys are saying.
I did happen to find one of the reasons for my personal battery drain...I forgot to go check the iR receive and it was set to on. So since I don't ever use iR anymore I whacked that and my battery seems to have a bit more stamina. We'll see. Thanks for the help guys...I'll keep checking as well to see if I can help find the problem still. Thanks. |
the update works great!
except for 1 thing... my phone wont vibrate at all. help? |
By the way...as for my voicemail problem (the phone wasn't telling me I had voicemail anymore since this update) this problem was solved by a previous post. Whoever uploaded the cab file that adds the ability to clear the voicemail count...thanks. Adding this cab file restored my vociemail notification as well. Must be more in that cab than just the reset.
Thanks again. Between my voicemail being back and my battery now lasting like it should...this ROM rocks. Everyone should do it. I also love not having to reinstall all of the programs I had to before...they are already there. Plus I have more space available. |
