do you think you could post your phonecanvas.dll, smartdialing.dll, and phonesettings.dll?

Catman51 05-17-2007 09:45 PM

By putting a phonesettings dll on, I'm not releasing anything personal, am I?

jrs 05-17-2007 10:06 PM

Jeff,

This is BY FAR the most stable, fastest ROM with the most avaialble RAM that I have seen so far. Thnaks for your outstanding work!

zentor 05-17-2007 11:12 PM

No personal data should be stored in those dll files. All your contact info should be stored else where.

Catman51 05-17-2007 11:27 PM

Okay,
Hope this helps.

Edit: removed attached

zentor 05-18-2007 12:02 AM

Shoot that didn't seem to do a thing. This is very strange I not sure what file is not getting overwriten by the rom update. Another strange thing I noticed is if you changed the \HLM\Security\Phone\Skin\Enabled to 0 I do not get the old skin back like I have read in some forums. Setting this to 0 also disables smart dialing totally. Thanks for posting those files. I guess I just keep looking for answers else where. I have loaded the ROM twice now and have check the phone application before loading any other software.

zentor 05-18-2007 12:11 AM

I can only assume that the smartdialing version comes on the ROM, but mine says 2.2 Build 23104 on the about screen

Catman51 05-18-2007 12:21 AM

Mine says the same thing. I don't think any of the numbers change.

zentor 05-18-2007 01:12 AM

All of the dialer skins from this site work perfectly on smart dialing. Strange?

zentor 05-18-2007 01:34 AM

I figured out what is wrong. For some reason all my bmp's for the smart dialing are not changing to the crossbow theme. Can you zip these files up for me?

Nevermind I was able to get the correct images from the theme here

ftp://ppcgeeks:ezupload@ftp.ppcgeeks...d_ROM_Kitchen/

Although I did notice the kitchen had the wrong images

zentor 05-18-2007 01:21 PM

Maybe I am using an older release because now I found an issue when trying to start wmodem using usb. I get a COM ERROR with no software loaded. Is anyone else having this issue it happens right after clicking start with usb selected. Also is the link on the first thread the newest version avaliable.

Uh, no, it's not the one on the first page. It is on Page 11, or you can use the link below. Please, everyone, before you start posting problems and sending poor Jeff on wild goose chases, read the thread and insure you are using the file you say you are using.

Hi Jeff,
Nice work on the rom. The scroll bars throughout the device seem really skinny on my end though - is it supposed to be like that?

I noticed this too, It is skinner then in his previous 3.5, But that can be changed with some simple registry edits, Which I remember seeing in the Registry Tweaks section of this site...

DirectPush and GAL doesn't work

I just installed and did the hard reset. DirectPush doesn't seem to work. Also GAL(Global Address Lists) doesn't seem to work in Contacts. Anybody connecting to an Exchange server have these issues?

Thanks.

I'm connecting to an E3 server and I'm not having any issues.. did you check the schedule settings?

Can this be done using a Mac?

I have a MacBook, and I synch my ppc using the Missing Synch...can this be done using a MacBook?

1oddmanout 05-18-2007 11:10 PM

OK, I got finished with my set of 12-hour days at work and went to the Caribou Coffee for their free WiFi (my Sprint aircard just won't download fast enough for the server and 'resets') and got back home to flash again (I've been running your previous clean-and-simple for so long, I forgot how to begin :D ) and may I say . . .
OMG, OMG, OMG, so simple, and fast and the space; I didn't do anything fancy, just did the same things I did before (unlock ext-rom, run the next unlocker program, soft reset) and then install all the programs I had stored on the storage card to the Ext-Rom, and I have 30.84 storage left!!
Thanks Jeff, we all have been waiting for so long, and it has been worth it!

And yes, it's deliberate, more space for actual data. The top and bottom bars take up enough precious screen real estate as it is.

LOL, I'm glad you like it.

tcbusch 05-19-2007 10:00 PM

Jeff,
Do you know if all the bugs are worked out? I seem to remember some issues with tethering, MMS mail issues, etc.

Jeff Kirvin 05-19-2007 10:12 PM

MMS is still hit or miss, tethering works fine. I've posted the generic kitchen on the FTP site if other people want to continue work on it, but I'm running Vista now and can't run CreateOS.exe anymore.

EtherealRemnant 05-20-2007 12:17 AM

*has a heart attack every time he hears that horrible word "Vista"*

Why anyone would subject themselves to that nonsense is beyond me. :P

In any case, I'm a huge fan of this ROM. Sucks there won't be any updates now. Thank you for giving it to us though!

tcbusch 05-20-2007 12:22 AM

Ok, this might sound like a stupid question but..........

What is MMS mail? I created an email account to send and receive email to my sprint pcs account. I need this to be functional, so before I upgrade I wanted to make sure this will work. Is sending and receiving email from a POP account MMS mail?

Thanks in advanced.

Jeff Kirvin 05-20-2007 12:27 AM

MMS is picure mail, more SMS with jpgs than actual email. Nothing to do with POP3.

As for why I'm running Vista, I make my living supporting PCs and I have to be failiar with it. And apart from it not running CreateOS.exe, it has a lot of advantages over XP. I rather like it.

Lastly, this ROM is still updateable, just not by me. I've uploaded the kitchen to the FTP site, so anyone can make derivatives of it.

EtherealRemnant 05-20-2007 12:49 AM

Yeah I'm just giving you shit on the Vista side.

I personally linux and do anything I need to do through an XP virtual machine under VirtualBox. Works extremely well though sometimes I have to use VMWare for better USB support.

I've lost my MMS in messaging all I have is Outlook E mail & Text. Has anybody else having this problem? I have Verizon.

DarkManX4lf 05-20-2007 11:07 AM

Does anyone have problems sending files through bluetooth? I was trying to send a file to a T-Moblile Dash and we were able to pair the devices but not send files, while pairing in the services screen there were no services between my phone and the Dash. I havent tried with another phone, but does this happen to anyone else?

If you have Verizon, I don't think this Sprint Rom is for you?

otbox21 05-20-2007 01:40 PM

Modem Problem

I can't connect to the internet through my cell line after installed Clean and Simple 3.5

Anytime I launch IE, I see it try to connect three times and then it says "No modem at above number, TO check your connection settings and change them if needed, tap settings"

So I go into settings and in short im stuck...

Is this common with Clean and Simple? Is there a different method of connecting through the cell line that I should be using?

Please help...I dont have much ppc cash but whoever can solve this can have it all..

Thanks A Lot

I’m not using the sprint version. I’m using the generic version that Jeff came out with right after. The Sprint one.

aatreya 05-20-2007 04:10 PM

Hey Jeff,
Any chance you could post the kitchen for the Sprint version as well? I only see the generic one on the site.

Thanks.

Given that it takes a couple hours to upload over EVDO, I'd rather not. The only differences between the two are the addition of the Sprint settings OEM module from the FTP site and the inclusion of a blank ms.nbf file to clear out your ExtROM that I stole from the Colonel.

car_lost 05-20-2007 05:54 PM

How can I change the Web and Running soft buttons to Messages and Contacts?

TambourineMan 05-20-2007 07:21 PM

I was also wondering how to reassign the soft keys, although since I can get to contacts on the phone screen, I have less of a need to reassign the soft keys on the today screen. The assignment of one of them to Running Programs is rather handy as my SPB Pocket Plus does not seem to be closing programs properly.

I was finally able to modify the permanent start menu drop down choices (calendar, contacts, Win Media Player, etc.) by going to the Start Menu folder and deleting the .Ink files. It would not let me un-check them in the Settings - Menus dialog.

Does anyone know how to assign a button to the asterisk (*) key. I would like to try using the lock/unlock feature, but not if I have to use a stylus to press the unlock icon, or open the keypad to tap the asterisk key.

I prefer that you dont upload the customized version. that way I can learn how to do this on my own. but how do I create the sprint one? I see two sprint settings OEM's.
Sogarth-Sprint-APA_SPCS_20600_303_12700_WWE_Ship

Do I use both? or just one?

also, would i need to add the .net 2.0 and crossbow themes ?

It is a registry setting discussed multiple times earlier in this thread.

The one I use is called SprintExtOEMwClearVMail.

.Net 2 and Crossbow are included in the kitchen as is.
