noob needs help fixing ppc
 

my vx6700 wont boot. a hard reset gets as far as
press space to continue. i press space and it dies.
i think i can faintly see the word serial on the screen
after it dies.
worse, my usb connector on my ppc is shot.
how do i reload a rom through my sd card ?

or other suggestions ?

here's where im at.
tried to flash rom through usb with ruu utility.
lost usb during begining
stuck at bootloader and usb connector has come
unsoldered from motherboard
have replacement piece but not enough
soldering experience to try to fix

anything else i can do ?
can i flash with sdcard ?
anything so i can get back up and running

I think you are at your end, seriously. Without heavy modification you can neither turn left nor right but rather continue to your closest store or phone to get a replacement. Sorry.

I am with "weed", without the USB...you are pretty much Out Of Luck.

There were some threads remember reading on how to upgrade "flash" from a card dont know if it really even worked....try searching here or the xda site.

search xda. you can flash it with linux from an sd card, that might get it usable. Maybe.

it became a brick last night while trying in vain to
temp solder on a usb cable to get it working.

replacement on it's way.

love my 6700.

Yeah, I haven't tried flashing with linux yet because I like my phone to work. In July when the iPhone 3g is released I'll be switching to that so it won't be a big deal for me to test stuff like that on my Apache.
