Upgrade Radio ROM?

I am using Colonels 3.5 ROM. I realize though that since I had never flashed to the Sprint 2.2 AKU, I've never update my Radio ROM from the original (it shows as 1.12.00 in device information).

Should I/could I update that? Can I extract just the radion ROM from the office AKU 2.2 (it isn't clear on the UTStarcom site which one is 2.2 -- anyone have a direct link?) and flash that?

Advice is appreciated. Thanks.

In theory, you can. However, I would suggest the safer route of installing the whole Official upgrade and then moving back to the custom roms.

Thanks. Then I'll save doing it for the next time I am upgrading the custom ROM. Do you have a link to the last (2.2) official Sprint ROM?

i think there should be one on the ftp server. if not go to this link
http://www.utstar.com/pcd/Downloads.aspx click on the aku 2.x app to download

I would get this:
http://www4.sprint.com/pcsbusiness/d...0_WWE_Ship.exe

Once you have it you can unzip the .exe (I use winrar and it works well) into a directory of your choosing. Once the exe is unziped go to the Outputfile directory and grab radio._nbf and put it in the same directory as the colonel 3.5 ROM.

From there you just follow the normal flash procedures that colonel posted. Having the radio._nbf will cause the phone to upgrade the radio after the CE rom is flashed.

Be advised, if you keep it there, it will update the radio every time you flash so if you dont want to do this (why would you), I suggest moving the file out of there once you have updated the radio.....

Hope this helps.

I will check the ftp server, but at utstar.com there is none for Sprint that is specifically labeled as 2.2 (just says fix or update -- I want to be sure I get the right one).

Thanks MrHappy.

MrHappy, you are correct. I just advise the other way to keep people from accidentally installing the wrong thing. It takes a bit longer, but installing a package from an Official upgrade is a safer route.

I've got 2 6700s (well ok, the wife has one of em) and I updated my radio, left hers at 1.12... they function about the same, really, with the base 1.1 AKU 3.5 rom.

I did my alone, but can't find the topic here - it was "upgrade bit by bit" or something.

does this effect what service you are on. if i put a sprint radio will my phone then use the Sprint network?
