Disassembly manual for the 6700 v1.0

I uploaded a manual with pictures I made for taking apart the 6700. Some folks over at pdaphonehome asked for this, but after trying to upload it there I gave up and put it on the ftp here.

ftp://up.ppcgeeks.com/Apache/Sixftunda

If anyone feels it needs clarification or I made a mistake somewhere please let me know and I will update it.

Nice work sixftunda! If you don't mind, that type of thing would work really well on the wiki (though it's good to have an "offline" version as well).

Thanks for making and sharing that guide. It's a good resource.

sixftunda 02-23-2007 07:51 PM

Thats a good idea, I will get it up on the wiki

DopeWeasel 02-23-2007 07:52 PM

Cool... for some strange reason I can't wait for something to break so that I to actually need to do this.

sixftunda 02-23-2007 08:05 PM

Umm perhaps someone more wiki literate could help me?

Well I got the text up just gotta figure out how to get the pics up

vtigre 02-24-2007 07:10 AM

okay, so i went and cleaned up this wiki text. Added a menue and links to the photos.

The wiki seems to have disabled photo uploads so viewing them directly on there is not possible?, well at least i don't know how yet.

Hope its to your liking.

sixftunda 02-24-2007 09:48 AM

WOW! Thanks a lot for cleaning that up vtigre. Once we get the pictures up it will be finished. I will be working this weekend so I wont have time to research it more, so if anyone knows how grab them off the ftp and run with it!

fandi1 02-28-2007 04:34 PM

SIGH.... ftp is down
:(

some of the image links are broken, but i am going to fix it shortly. The photos are linked away from the ftp, so as long as the wiki is up, you can right click the photo and click "save target as" or something of that nature to save it unto your computer. This is the solution until we figure out how to put the photos to show up on the wiki.

thank god i found this. i don't want to get yet another 6700 from sprint but my d-pad isn't working correctly right now. no matter how carefully i use it, i always get a click (i.e. it doesn't have any resistance to clicking it).

aamon17 07-25-2007 04:25 PM

Be careful!

Be careful reassembling the housing!!!

The instructions are perfect & helped me replace the screen on my extra xv6700. BUT, I got goofy when putting it back together and broke the little piece that allows the side volume slider to engage the board. I couldn't find it anywhere & couldn't rig it up to work without it. Heck, I don't even know what it looks like. I just know I broke it going too fast! LOL!

Nonetheless, it works perfectly, except for the slider. I just mapped the side buttons to control the volume. Not perfect, but gets the job done.

Good luck!

What size torque screwdriver do you need to remove those 2 small screws that's under the battery?

aamon17 07-25-2007 06:04 PM

Now ya tell me

This is AWESOME Thanks.

My power port broke off inside mine. I had to buy one with a broken screen on ebay and combine with mine to get 1 good unit

Next time at least I'll have a guide :)

redlining 07-25-2007 07:47 PM

/Apache/Sixftunda is not valid. Can you please re-upload.
Thanks.

runt 07-25-2007 07:50 PM

its /Apache/Users/Sixftunda now

runt 07-25-2007 08:34 PM

ok, does anyone have a button panel they can part with?

runt 07-25-2007 08:51 PM

ok, i now have a broken volume control too, although i never use it. i'm tempted to call lockline and say my phone is lost, get a new one for $50 and then have spare parts ;)

ftp://up.ppcgeeks.com/Apache/Sixftunda

It wants a user name and password to download. Is that the same as for the Forum?

OK so the disassembly guide is now in a wiki which means you can not read and see the pictures and the same time. Is it downloadable anywhere.

your ftp link is wrong: I found ftp://up.ppcgeeks.com/Apache/Users/Sixftunda but it is empty.

That link is incorrect.

Correct link is:

mikeklemz 11-14-2007 02:30 PM

When following the link, the : and the D show up as . Just look under How-To in the Wiki to find the correct link.

sph33r 11-14-2007 03:45 PM

BobC 11-14-2007 10:28 PM

OK, found it, but there are 5 photos either missing or linked incorrectly. They are
13, 14, 18, 22, & 23
