MiniSD problem - Help!

When I insert a memcard into my Apache it stops responding. I only have to remove the miniSD to make it come back, I don't even have to reset it.

I tried several standard (non-HC) miniSDs with no luck at all.

I have not replaced the standard driver that comes with WM6.

What can I do to make it work?

Thanks,

David

That's strange. I assume you have a card reader. Some ppl say they have to format the card first FAT32, though I never have had to.

Hmm my first inclination is something wrong with the port if you tried multiple cards. Can you see inside to see if there something in there (even just "fuzz" or something)

I would trying cleaning it out (blowing) and see how that goes.

Also have you tried to soft reset WITH a card inside? Will it even boot up?

Pocket Mechanic reads my card as FAT16. You say you have had these issues with several different cards and you are using WM6. So what about WM5? Did you have issues with it then? Worse case about it being the wrong format means it simply wouldnt see the card, not lock up. Although blowing out dust-bunnies isnt a bad idea, my opinion goes back to the ROM with it being WM6.

I flashed the original WM5 rom and it did the same...

But I tried with a different Apache and it does the same too, so I guess it's a incompatibility with Kingston's cards or something.

I had this problem too. It's a poor format. I stuck it in my Wii, which might have altered the structure a bit. Anywho, re-format the card with a card reader, as suggested above and it should be ok. format it a few times, just to be sure. If you can, do it from DOS. For some reason, formatting with the line command is WAY better than with windows. Same goes for 3.5" floppies.

P.S. I'm not trying to be a post hog today, I'm bored at work and would rather try to help you guys than do actual work. lol.

Kingston cards are fine. I have a micro/miniconverter and it is fine. Just stuck it in and off and running. I'm running the 6.0 ROM. Something else is wrong...

I also run a kingston 2gb micro in a mini adapter w/o any issues. You have to have a hardware issue somewhere, either in the card or the device itself.

Can't be, I have two Apache's, same thing happen in both. I already formated it to FAT32, same sh*t happens... Two different phones, two different ROMs... must be something else.

Thanks for the help

Re: MiniSD problem - Help!

So, reviewing the posts, I guess we never established if SD cards have ever worked in the device(s). We do know at least one was recently flashed to WM6 and both devices lock up with the memory card in. We do have enough available memory, right? I don't think the driver has been reinstalled but then it is not an SDHC so that really shouldn't be the issue.
