what do you use besides outlook to backup contacts?
I uninstalled outlook and lost the cd. I need t backup my contacts and possibly IE bookmarks. thanks in advance guys
|
if you search for backup software there are plenty out there.. I personally use SPB Backup
|
mine contacts sync via mail2web. I think I rememnber seeing sprite backup somewhere on the software section. other than that I used sbp backup.

Are you with Verizon? If so just use their Wireless Sync app Its not just for email, it backs up all of your PIM (contact, calendar, notes, tasks, even gives you weather) Its free and great. I use it as a second backup to outlook

about once a week, i just backup the PIM.VOL file to my SD-Card and call it a day. most of the backup programs ive used make duplicate entries or do other bizzare things after a restore..
anyways that file holds all your calendar and contacts.... bookmarks im not familiar with as i dont use the web on the phone very often. to restore your backed up PIM.VOL use the phones BUILT IN file explorer... tap click and "copy" the pim.vol from your SD-Card go to the root of your phone and RENAME the existing pim.vol.... tap click and PASTE the one from your SD-Card as soon as the copy finishes, soft reset the device using the stylus (if you wait to long or use a program to soft reset the system will not use the new PIM) so its important to stylus reset it with the button as soon as the copy is finished. _____________ be careful when upgrading AKU... the 2.x format PIM is not compatible with a 3.x AKU hope this helps |

Personally I use Sprite Backup as it not only backup the contacts but also backup all the data on my device such as the all the settings for third party applications and also the registry settings.
Another reason I use Sprite Backup is the speed. Sprite Backup is much faster than ActiveSync  Meanwhile, I heard Sprite Backup has got trial version now and can be downloaded from their website, so why not just give it a go! |
