where are the 6.1 custom roms?

I've been using a custom rom that was put on here last year. It's worked pretty well but it's still WM5. I've visited off and on looking for new roms but I noticed that not many people are posting custom roms anymore. So are we gonna just have to build our own custom roms now?

I guess I'm a little anxious about doing it since I'm not familiar with what to do. I've seen a tutorial or two but it still scares me a little. I guess the question I really wanna know is how do I find all the apps I have or had on my current rom that are compatible with the new WM6.1 build? Is it difficult to build a rom or is it just a few steps in a wizard?

I'll be doing it on XP SP2. Thanks for the answers!

Having downloaded the kitchen for 6.1 and seeing what it takes to make my own ROM, I think i'm overwhelmed by all the addons i can use! Is there anything out there that can help guide me to what a good setup might be for the Apache PPC 6700? I'd really appreciate the help!

It's all preference.. Start by picking what's included in the custom ROM you've been using for a year if you like what was in it. Most items in the kitchen you can right-click on and it'll give you an option to "View Website".

Nobody can really tell you what a good base is because people all use the device differently. If you don't have a data plan, or don't use wifi that often, then ICS Control and internet connection sharing would be not very useful, etc.

I am a noob at this who custom rom thing so if I had a prebuilt rom to start with it would be great. I have installed the latest version of kitchen and built a customer rom (using the defaults) but I keep getting errors after about 5 minutes of building the rom. I am sure its something I am doing but it would be nice to have a known working rom for us noobs to get our feet wet with. I have found several rom compilation threads on other phone sections.

I've gone ahead and tried out the kitchen app that you can download from ppckitchen.org. It seems to be pretty overwhelming but I based my first ROM creation upon what others have done. I wish I hadn't spent so much time researching this but I do have a working ROM on my phone. Knowing what all the features and offerings on that app are takes a while to research but it's also nice at the same time to be able to do this on your own.

I think majortomm is right that it'd be cool to have a guide to work off of for noobs who don't understand what to do.
