dsm and rgu files in the windows dir. What can we clean out?

So it looks like some of the dsm and rgu files in the windows dir are required to be their as some fetures will not work without them (activesync, wireless, etc). I want to remove as many of these as I can without causing isuess as there are now around 233 in my rom. Do we know what files we can get rid of or are there a set few we know we need? I was going to sit down and look at all the rgu to see their references and pull what I "think" is ok to pull and test but thats a long problematic way of doing it.

I looked around online and see mention to pulling some but no lists and no defacto infromation of a good way to do this. Even the OEM's seem to have trival stuff in theirs.

Anyone have a better insite into what they do? At first I thought they were added to the system hive when complied, but this seems not to be the case as we can not get rid of them in the rom but the ref info seems to be there.

It stands to reason that the cleaner the windows dir is, the better performance we could get from our devices, even if it's only noticalbe when browsing the windows folder :)

I'm pretty certain the rgu files are merged into the default.hv and user.hv files. At least all the ones i've verified by hand were. The batch file in the kitchen implementation dumps all the rgu files before running the buildimgfs so someone must have thought they were extraneous. I kind of had this thought that maybe there were there to hold user type settings, but since they're being copied into the ROM, this doesn't seem to make much sense.

As far as the dsm files go, I'm sort of thinking that they have something to do with application signing/certificates. I'm kind of thinking this is adopted from other devices and haven't actually seen where they are necessary, but there's very little information to be had on this subject.

Yeah its been interesting tracking anything down on them. I do know that when I built in the kitchen (at least from the dup to nmb) and when I used the other metod. I had issues when the files were removed. That being saud though, I may not have checked witreless when the rgu's were removed in the kitchen. May be a step between the two methods were the data is not being imported first. Ill keep tinkering. This is holding up my next rom so if anyone has more detailplease chime in.. :)
