"Internet Sharing" issue
1 Attachment(s)
I seem to be having a problem using my 6700 as a modem to get my Notebook online. 2 days ago, I had not problems doing this at all. But it seems as though the Notebook acknowledges that it's connected to my Phone/Modem, but when I look in the Network and Sharing Center of my Notebook, the midpoint where my phone's network would connect to the internet, there's the "X" indicating that there's no connection the internet. I don't know if it helps, but I'm using a COMPAQ Presario V6000 and I'm on Windows Vista Home Premium. My phone is a Sprint PPC-6700 running on a Windows Mobile 6 ROM; don't remember which one it is because I changed to it so long ago now, but I do know it's the first mobile 6 ROM that was distributed on this site. I haven't installed or uninstalled anything critical on either my Phone or Notebook lately. And I've had this issue before with connecting before, I haven't a clue as to why. Maybe, someone on here can help me out with some ideas.

Re: "Internet Sharing" issue
Try manually setting your IP address for Remote NDIS on the 6700 to 192.168.0.100 with the subnet mask set to 255.255.255.0 (if you just tab out of the last IP address field, it will automatically set the subnet mask), and leave the default gateway blank. Then, set the IP address of the network connection on the PC side to 192.168.0.101, same subnet as on the 6700, and the default gateway to 192.168.0.100.
You don't have to use those exact IP addresses, you just need to set one on the 6700, reference it as the default gateway and set the IP address on the PC to something in the same subnet. Hope this helps. |
Re: "Internet Sharing" issue
Thank you very much! Honestly, I don't know the first thing about messing with IPs... But I will be very careful about it and I'll let you know how it goes as I pick and prod.
