thanks for the info. Now I wonder if we have to run this cab on every hard reset from now on ?

FYI: Not necessary to install this on AKU 3 and later. The fix is built in.

This doesn't seem to be the case with the 3.5 kitchen we've been using. As if you have the timezone update there will be additonal time zones as Canada is changing with the US but Mexico is not. So for example after the update you will see two different GMT -8 time zones, two different -7 GMT time zones, four different -6 GMT time zones, and three different GMT -5 timezones!

crazy stuff, if you ask me it is like Y2K version 2

I'm thinking yes until someone puts it into a ROM and you flash with that.

Here is a way you can prove it to yourself. Set your date to March 11th 2007 and set the time to 1:59am. Then wait until 2am and see if the time changes to 3am automatically. If it does then you do not need this fix. Colonel and I already verified this on AKU 3.2... I would be shocked if it is not in 3.5, as MS has gone on record to say that all builds beginning with AKU 3.0 have the fix built in. It is just implemented differently than this cab file fix (which uses reg entries).

Try it and report back what your results are.

Oh I see, well I installed the cab so I can't exacally test it now =). But I do know that there are more time zones to select after the cab =). I'm guessing if you live in mexico or get emails from someone in mexico it might be important as you need to be able to distguish for example PST US vs PST Mexico.

So if you live in Mexico you don't want your time to automattically change in March =).

New DST works properly in the 3.5 Kitchen

The new DST works properly in the 3.5 Kitchen (at least for the US Eastern zone, which is what I tested). Mar 11 and Nov 4.

I hard reset. Then setup a daily recurring appointment in the Eastern time zone. Then changed clock to Indiana time zone (where DST not applied). Appointment time changed on Mar 4 and Nov 11 as expected.

I live in Indiana where we used to be on EST year-round, so am particularly conscious of DST. The ROM changes on the right dates. (MSFT should have deleted the old Indiana time zone, BTW, since Indiana now observes DST).

I just tried this on AKU 3.5 and it notified me that the clock has been updated when it hit 2am on March 11, 2007

All times are GMT -4. The time now is 01:30 AM.
