Re: No com ports showing in my Apache !!
if you just need to copy your contacts, sync it with a computer, and then sync the other phone but on the second phone tell it contacts only.
hope this helps |
Re: No com ports showing in my Apache !!
or use PIMBackup to take them from one device and replace on the new.

Re: No com ports showing in my Apache !!
I am trying to retreive them off a Katana II but I am more concerned with the fact that no com ports are showing available on the Apache.

Re: No com ports showing in my Apache !!
Well WM6.1 has been known to do some really weird things so I guess you are apart of the statistic now. Not saying it cannot do it, but how do you know the Katana will even transfer contacts via BT to the 6700? I assume you are pairing the 6700 and the Katana together and getting a 'pair' but cannot find a COM port on the Katana, right?

Re: No com ports showing in my Apache !!
Katana will not work that way...I am trying to pair the 6700 with a pc.

Re: No com ports showing in my Apache !!
Well where are the contacts from the Katana? Why not get them off the Katana to the PC and then just Actvesync the 6700 via USB to the PC?

Re: No com ports showing in my Apache !!
I was able to get my contacts transfered, however, the I am not able to transfer data for some reason. COM ports are not available. Any suggestions ?? I can pair my device but not transfer data across bluetooth.

Re: No com ports showing in my Apache !!
Do you know what Bluetooth stack is running on the PC? If it is Toshiba, I'd recommend replacing with Microsoft. You really don't have to set up any COM ports on the 6700. Just set up the incoming COM on the PC. Then when you pair, you should get services options serial (just a data connection) and Activesync (syncing) on the 6700.

Re: No com ports showing in my Apache !!

Re: No com ports showing in my Apache !!
Never done it but I believe that is the "beam" function, e.g. to send a ringtone to another phone.

Yes, beam meaning infared, it is how I have moved many small things from one device to another, if it is a large file then I just temp swap cards.

Re: No com ports showing in my Apache !!
Actually, on my phone running WM6, there is an option to check a box to require the passphrase to be entered when you beam by Bluetooth. Again, I have never done it but I guess it would be useful when trying to connect to BT devices that don't have Activesync.
It is in my VX6700 manual to be able to beam by BT as well. |
Re: No com ports showing in my Apache !!
passphrase is usually four zeros just like pairing.

Re: No com ports showing in my Apache !!
How do you transfer files over BT though? Im using WM 6.1 now.

Re: No com ports showing in my Apache !!
Not quite sure what you are needing. Have you transfered files over USB b4? I'm assuming you want PC to PPC and vice versa. It's exactly the same except over a BT connection. Post again if you need help setting the BT up.

Re: No com ports showing in my Apache !!
Make your BT partnership with the other phone. Tap and hold the item to transfer (can be a calendar appt., task, contact card, file). Tap Beam [type of item]. Tap the device name of recipient. Should transfer. This from XV6700 manual WM5 but the beam function should be available in 6.1. See if it works.

but there again, you are assuming both devices have the same BT supportive stacks and profiles.......

Re: No com ports showing in my Apache !!
I guess there are about 5 or 6 BT stacks out there and they do pose a problem when you make the partnership if you want specific services to show up. I had a tough time getting Activesync services to show up on the 6700 when I used the Toshiba stack. But I got it working. I doubt that you would have trouble sending just a file over any BT connection. Otherwise the technology would be pretty useless. IMHO.
