GPSone chip hack via 6800 rom editing

It seems there are alot of people here with Kitchen capabilities. so can anyone here disect the 6800 roms to find out how they hacked the GPSone chip to enable the AGPS on a com port for use on any software?

maybe just removing the 6800 specific items and installing the 6700 specific items will work fine as well?

maybe someone with some guts can try installing the 6800 rom on their 6700?

thought about this too(not installing the rom just stripping out whats referanced)... I looked at the reg post in the 6800 forum... there are three DLL's listed... GpsDaemonService.dll, GPSID_QCT.dll, VIRSER_GPS.dll

There are only a few keys that i think could be an issue including these three:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\VirtCOM_GPS1]
"DevConfig"=hex:20,00,00,00,05,00,00,00,10,01, 00,0 0,00,4B,00,00,00,00,08,00,00,00,00,\
00,00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\Active\36]
"BusName"="BuiltInPhase1_0_8_0"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\Active\59]
"BusName"="BuiltInPhase1_0_53_0"

Im trying to get the dll's and hack my registry... Also th titan needed to flash the radio(i think) so I have no idea what changed there... But the origianl radio for the 6700 allowed gps.. I tried to find it but someone told me to just give up on GPS with the 6700... anyway I found these pdf that might be useful for all the devices that us the gpsOne chips...
http://www.cdg.org/members_only/team...5458-1NP_E.pdf

http://www.wlt.net.cn/Uploadfile/Web...8173746743.pdf

The Second one tell you the AT Commands the chip responds to..... Good Luck and will keep you posted on my findings....

Re: GPSone chip hack via 6800 rom editing

the GPS chip is access via the "windows intermidiate driver" i am not sure exactly what that is but this seems to be what makes the GPS seen in the OS... secondly the Radio firmware controls the Qualcomm chip, including the GPS. without the custom radio firmware nothing can be done.

there is some site where i found details on a manual upgrade, this involves unlocking the phone for custom firmware, installing the software (windows intermidiate driver) and then installing the radio firmware that unlocks the GPS chip.

there is a guy at pdaphonehome.com that just tried to install the 6800 firmware his 6700 and i asked him if he was able to work the GPS... he said the phone is extreamly unstable though. but if he can access the GPS functions then we will know that this hack may become a reality

I was just thinking. i bet if we can setup the firmware, the windows intermediate driver should work fine and hopefully we wont have to unlock the phone to install the radio firmware.

if i am not mistaken we should be able to just install the radio firmware without having to build a new ROM and loose everything on our phones. then when someone builds a new kitchen they can include the new radio firmware

and all the DLL files and the registry entries are the windows intermidiate drivers files and settings.. our only concern at this point is setting up the new radio firmware, from there we can most likely use the windows intermidiate driver to connect to it, if not then we be fudged... the biggest reason this was never hacked was because nobody had figured out how it was controlled. they were all looking for simple registry hacks and hidden software, API's for writing software and the such. the truth is that the answer lies in the Radio firmware which isn't visible in any of this stuff...

does anyone know who is responsible for the 6800 hack anyway? maybe that person can assist us by letting us know how it was done

i found a link in the 6800 forums that has a bunch of tools i cant use at the moment but i will pull them out this weekend. they are all pre production development tools that may be able to tell us if we can make any access to the GPS without calling 911

Everyone on xda basically says "no dice". It looks theoretically possible, but no one can seem to get it to work....

If it were possible, don't you think that somebody either here or at xda would have figured it out in the 3 years or so that the 6700 has been out? Nobody has as of yet gotten onboard GPS on an Apache. I give ya kudos for trying, but doubt any success. Would be nice though, since my trusty but aging Apache is about to get sidelined for a Touch. I could "retire" it with 6.1 and GPS...

The closest they got on xda was to see the satelites. The can't get any software to interface with the GPS chipset.

I've had a 6700 - managed to brick it ... rather dunk it ... went swimming with it in my short pocket !

anyway .. just try http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=25027 Not sure ... not tested - but just my penny for thought.

But with the 6800 I've got a location even in India ... which is no where near the AGPS positions.. You can check up my post on http://www.ashoksoft.blogspot.com maybe the same settings thro QPST might help..

cheers
