6700 signal problems
I have had this 6700 for a while and am getting horrible reception. My brother has an identical 6700 and gets about 10 to 12 dB more signal than mine sitting side by side.
We have compared many areas as well and he can hold a call when I drop off. I have to figure out a solution but I haven't found anything that has really helped. I have tried the various radio flashes and am currently running a 1.41 radio with the new WM 6.1 kitchen. Help Mike ](*,) |
Re: 6700 signal problems
Sounds like a hardware issue. How comfortable are you with taking it apart?

Re: 6700 signal problems
Also, do you have the same batteries?

Re: 6700 signal problems
I have no real issues with taking it apart if there is a chance to fix it. I have another phone so its not a huge issue.
I am willing to try any solutions at this point. Mike |

Yes, batteries I don't believe are the issue. I have about 12 batteries and we have 4 chargers in the house. |
Re: 6700 signal problems
Never mind the previous question I posted. 10-12 dB is huge. Something is broken.

Re: 6700 signal problems
My phone did something similar. I ended up taking it to one of those cell phone repair shops and was hammered for 75 bucks for a new antenna modulator. Oh well... it's what it took to get this baby back on the road! By the way, never use the port with an external antenna. thats how i broke mine apparently.

Re: 6700 signal problems
I am hoping there is a solution that I can do. I don't mind replacing a part or something, but I don't have many options to take my phone and have it fixed. I would probably just buy another 6700 if it came right down to it. I have never used the external jack but I also got the phone used. So it is unknown what the status of the jack is. Can I buy a replacement antenna portion or not an option.

Re: 6700 signal problems
I would first suggest reflashing the radio. If that doesn't fix it, you'll know it's a hardware issue. If so, I'd bet that the actual antenna is not making good contact with the contact pad on the PCB or the modulator's going. If it's simply a contact issue you'll have to disassemble it (search for info, it's out there) and clean the contact pad where the antenna touches and reassemble.
