Need help! All calls going straight to voicemail!

I am still having trouble with my ppc6700. I can not receive calls...it will not ring. All calls go straight to voicemail. It is almost like my phone is stuck online...even though the evdo symbol is grayed out, so I am assuming it is offline. How do I get calls to ring to my phone??? I am at a loss here and really need some help. I have tried a soft reset a few times, still no luck.

you got sprint? dial *2 and see if you need a prl update. i woulkd try a hard reset, if that dont work, hopefully you got tep. get it replaced.

When did this start? What's your carrier and what ROM version are you running? Have you tried a hard reset? When you call your 6700 do you (as the caller) hear any rings before VM picks up, or does it go immediately to VM?

Without knowing any additional info, here are the main possibilities this could happen:

1. Your phone is actively transferring data in a 1x area (non-EV-DO). This causes the symptom of calls going immediately to voicemail (i.e. the incoming caller does not hear any rings first).

2. Your phone is actively transferring data in an EV-DO area and you do not have the proper PRI revision (1.18_003 or 1.19_003) to allow DDTM (ring-through). This problem can be distinguished from #1 because incoming callers should hear the full 4-5 rings before your VM picks up. As far as I know, this is a Sprint-only problem. Other carriers aren't affected.

3. Your phone is not registering with the carrier's towers. This can be caused by any number of things, most of which can be checked by technical support. If you're on Sprint, just call *2 (as JackShitt28 said) and ask for tech support. Tell them your problem about getting incoming calls and they will lead you through a number of steps to get it figured out. They may need to call you on another phone because some of the steps require that your 6700 not be in-use.

Anyway, there's a long shot that it's a hardware issue, but still possible I guess.

So you're on Sprint then? The 1.18_003 PRI should allow ring-thru. And anyway, since it goes straight to VM without ringing that indicates it's not a ringthru problem.

Is your 6700 showing a few bars of signal or are you in a bad signal area? Have you ever messed with any of the phone's settings (I think you would know if you have because any drastic changes require you to enter your MSL).

Did you try a hard reset? If not, you really should. That will completely eliminate any possible problem with your software setup. Only problem is it will erase everything on the phone.

If the problem remains after a hard reset then I would definitey call Sprint tech support. They can reset some things on their end (and may give you a few other things to try as well).

Not getting incoming calls is a major problem, so you should expect Sprint will be very willing to help you fix it.

Good luck. Let us know what you find out.

Well, I guess I will have to call Sprint. I did the hard reset and it still goes straight to voicemail. I don't have a clue as to what is wrong with it!

defently call sprint *2, then say "tech support" then "data card pda" it will get you to advanced technicial support. once the tech answers ask them if they are advanced tech support and are capibile of helping you with your ppc-6700. if they are not, dont waste your time with them, have them transfer you to some one who has experience with the device.

Well, I finally broke down and called tech support. Thanks for your suggestion on how to reach advanced tech support. I got a great guy on the line and he fixed me up! He had to reset my phon, he said that my PPC was stuck on a switch in the system and he reset it. I am now able to make and receive calls and go on the internet! This was ongoing for a month. Since I was in Florida when it started, I didn't think too much about it as service is always spotty on the island, so I didn't really think anything until I got back to Illinois.
At least I can receive calls again!

Good deal. Glad you goit it working again.
