how about a Stripped ROM

Ok, while we all love everyone's custom roms coming out, how about one for those of us that don't want everything. Here is my idea for a good rom

AKU 3.3
Eliminate Voice command (some of us have MSVC)
Add CF 2
Eliminate MSN
Eliminate Camera (that way we can install cool cam on the storage card)
If possible eliminate IE and or WMP
Eliminate all language files and help files
Eliminate all ringtones except for Oldring and Default

This would slim down the rom a good bit.

The reason I say this is most of my stuff (including MSVC) gets installed to the extended_rom area (I delete everything in there) and my storage card. even xpdf while I use it, is moved to the storage card.

Just my opinion

This has been suggested before, but the beauty of the ROM is that loading all your programs there does not take up any additional usable space. Some of those programs i agree with you on though as i've removed the MSN packages from the ROMs i make. I tried removing WMP, but is a core OS feature and afterwards i could not play music even with TCPMP. The way I see it you can still add any programs you want to after the rom build. If you still want a slim ROM though try downloading a kitchen and taking out some of the OEM packages that you don't like.

Edit: As an example the current rom i'm using which was developed with the 3.5 kitchen ( ftp://up.ppcgeeks.com/Apache/ImCoKeM...int_nk.nbf.zip ) currently has 36.06 mb free storage mem and 29.45 free program mem.

Those are the MSN1-MSN3, correct? Or are there any other files I need to delete as well?

Thanks much.

This would work if the Rom invaded your storage depending on how big it is, however because the Rom is fixed, you are better off finding (or building) a custom Rom that has apps in it that you normally use anyway. Then work from there, you would use less of your EXT Rom for apps and have more space overall!
