connecting to car
 

I have a Blaupunkt mp57 car stereo, and im attempting to connect my 6700 to it through the usb port...but the stereo wont recognize the phone or the sd card..
ive tried using wm5 storage, but no luck...
anybody have any ideas, or know of anything that works to play music through the usb port?
ive tried replacing the wire, using different sd cards, etc, all with no luck.at my wits end

That USB port on the front of your stereo usit isnt for reading music off phone or cards. It is for reading music off of USB sticks. The circuitry in your head unit is very simple and does not carry an onboard OS. Thus, it does not have the capability of recognizing a phone with a different OS and having drivers to "see" that device and know what it is or what to do with it. Go and read the owners manual of the head unit and it will inform you of what that port is for and what the head unit will recognize.

You would think that using WM5Storage you'd be able to browse the files on your phone though.

but there again, it is all based on an OS that your USB plugin on your head unit cannot read not even recognizes.

funny, Ive got an insignia with the usb port and sd card slot and the usb will take the phone when in wm5storage mode plus charge it...

it reads just like a mem stick. I've also noticed that in my buddies insignia that it wont read sticks over 1gb, and my 2gb in my phone doesnt work on his. your problem may be similar to this size issue?

im sory, im lost, is your insignia the head unit or the MP3 player?

insignia is the mp3 enabled car head unit with the usb and sd ports.

so maybe yours is designed to work (or coincidentally works) that way?? maybe the OPs isnt??

Many industries see the consumer looking for more storage and the need to keep it digital. With USB keys being sheap and gaining in size, it only makes sense. I have a xbox with a 320gb drive in my truck with all my music on the HDD as well as movies and games. With any manufactures seeing massive MP3 players selling and fueling the next innovative move,they must find a way to adapt and keep up or fall behind which they refuse to do.
