NewB Question..

I'm thinkin about purchasing a ppc from a private company (Cellular South). Will the hacks/tricks described in this forum work with it?

I know you're wondering why don't i go to a big company like Sprint. Well, quite frankly... i'm 17 years old and 60 bucks a month for unlimited minutes/web/txt & pic messaging sounds real good to me.

Wideawake 07-17-2006 05:36 PM

How much they gonna let u get the phone for? And yes most of the hacks and all of the programs listed here will work on the cellular south branded ppc-6700. Unlimited mins for 60? hummm I got 500, n&ws @7, unlimited pic/video, free internet, free roaming, plus a 10% discount all for 42 bux, not bad from sprint.

dre3k2 07-17-2006 06:00 PM

It costs $250, but i know a guy who knows a guy  ... so i get a $100 discount.

Wideawake 07-17-2006 06:02 PM

wow not bad. Cellular south doesnt have EV-DO service tho do they?

dre3k2 07-17-2006 06:06 PM

Nah, that's unfortunately the downside to it all. But this is just a temporary solution until i go off to Auburn (football scholarship) so i think i can live with it.

Wideawake 07-17-2006 06:07 PM

I hear ya. ;)

dre3k2 07-17-2006 06:13 PM

Wait a min. Is 1x Ev-do the same kind of service that sprint has? All this Cdma, Tdma, Evdo stuff has me confused sometimes.

The last time i talked to the cellular south rep they said that 1x Ev-Do will be available down here within the next year. I don't know if that's the same thing as sprint's evdo or what?

Whatever it is, i can CERTAINLY say that's its faster than Nextel's network (the carrier i'm with now)

Wideawake 07-17-2006 06:16 PM

1x is lower than evdo, Im on 1x cuz we dont have evdo service available where I live. Its not bad but like 110kb/s (sometimes higher sometimes lower) or so.

Isn't Sprint and Nextel the same thing where you live? In Seattle that is their huge thing up here. "Sprint together with Nextel"..... That's what all the commercials say, and you can buy either at the sprint stores.

Wideawake 07-17-2006 07:46 PM

yea they combined awhile back.

dre3k2 07-17-2006 08:11 PM

It's hard to explain. Nextel and Sprint are one company... but still on two different networks. Sprint users have the almight ev-do network... while Nextel users as myself still have the out-of-date iDen network. Sprint says that it's going to convert the Nextel network to Cdma... but it's not happening fast enough for me. The last i heard, it wasn't going to be upgraded until the end of '07 (OUCH).

FYI: The reason nextel kept the out-of-date iDen network was because it was the best in providing there highly in-demand "Push to Talk" feature which is almost the only selling point they have. But now since it's being offered over Ev-Do (Cingular)... They have problems

Wideawake 07-17-2006 08:15 PM

yea I knew that,if I'm not mistaken they don't even use the same towers as of yet. And I do believe cingular is gsm which has edge not evdo. ;)

dre3k2 07-17-2006 08:27 PM

lol.. i told u i get confused with all this edge, evdo, cdma, tdma, gsm, iDen crap.. haha. I meant Verizon (evdo... i think.. ?) has a push 2 talk service. Man, i'm a complete noob

Wideawake 07-17-2006 08:38 PM

its no problem we where all n00bs once ;)

Bunny might be able to hook you up. I am sure he has some kind of connection. :D

bunnytrigger 07-19-2006 11:19 AM

how do you know u got rejected??? you seem smart and commonsensical.....if that's even a word :D

Wideawake 07-19-2006 11:54 AM

applied online, cuz most businesses make u apply online now. And a few hours later I get a email saying we have more qualified applicants or some bs like that. I might go to the local store and see if I can't talk to someone one on one. I mean I love technology, and have a lot self taught knowledge . which amounts to nothing I guess! :?
