Will not connect to EVDO, will to 1X
 

Hi

I have a PPC-6700 with Alltel.

I am able to dial and connect fine to #777 when the phone is showing a 1X signal. When showing a EVDO signal the phone attempts to dial #777, tells me my login and password are incorrect, and then switches to a 1X tower.

Any ideas? I called Alltel and they said it was an equipment issue. This seems kind of silly to me, since its not doing anything very different when connecting to a 1X tower or an EVDO tower.

Any ideas?

I have been having the same issue for months on alltel but I am roaming on sprint. Go over to howardforums.com and ask the question in the alltel subforum. There are some very nice alltel techs over there that are allot more knowledgeable than those you will get on the phone. I got lucky and had one fix my problem just by sending private messages. Let me know if you find a solution cause mine has been acting up again.

go into epst,, by hitting ##778 enter six 0's for your passcode,, look for the security tab...

under those you should have
HDR AN AUTH USER NAME your10digitphonenumber@alltel.net
HDR AN AUTH PASSWORD your ESN number
PPP USER NAME your10digitphonenumber@alltel.net
PPP PASSWORD alltel

try this see if that helps...

I have sprint ppc 6700 and have evdo until I connect for data, all data 1x. been that way for two weeks. Cincinnati and indianapolis areas same. I tried my mogul 6800 with sprint, grilfriends phone on my plan, same thing. I called sprint and they said not on their end? Help??

well if it is on two different phones, what is that chance of you having the same issue with two phones? not likely.
