PPCGeeks - text message delivery

I can't seem to find an answer for this anywhere. This is my first time having this type of phone. My old phone would tell me when a message was actually sent from someone and when it was delivered to me. Is there any way to find this out on my xv6700? Also I have been missing some text messages lately that never come through. My phone lights up like a message is coming but nothing happens. I wouldn't have thought anything of this but I have had several people ask me why I didn't respond to their message which is because I never actually got a message from them.
